Large quantities of diamonds were discovered in Kafur LGA of Katsina since 2010. Large deposits of Gold are found in most LGA of Katsina like Jibiya, Dansuma, Faskari, Dutsinama, Bakori, Sabuwa etc. I don't know who/the companies responsible for mining the diamonds but I do know that the gold deposits are mined by the locals most of the time.

Anka, Bungunda and Bagega LGA in Zamfara State have large deposits of gold. The locals do majority of the mining in past years. Although due to health and environmental hazards they caused on the environment, the federal government had to clamp down on the local miners.

A lot of states in Northern Nigeria do have deposits of gold i.e Kwara, Niger etc.

I have always wondered why they weren't termed national resources.

Abagworo: Oil has always been in Lagos but for politics. However I get happier with the discovery of oil everywhere in the world. Very soon we'll have to drink the oil and all these PDP supporters will understand what PDP did to Nigeria. After 11 consecutive years of oil boom, we are still importing refined oil, After 14 years we are still struggling with power. What a waste.

just remove pdp from it, oil has been explored in naija since 1959 , pdpd started in 1999

We have Gold and diamond in osun state in commercial quantity. I have seen several illegal gold mines in osun state. Uranium is found somewhere in the middle belt as well.
