I have no beef with smokers/drinkers, in fact 2 of my best friends are into that stuff. However, I dont have to deal with the results of their drunkenness, nor do I have to inhale their secondary smoke.

why is it so stigmatised these days when in the early days it was actually considered elegant and a thing of glamour and status esp in women?

I smoke and I drink (everyday for that matter). I have never been drunk and I dont think
there is any amount of alchohol that can get me drunk but I try to drink sensibly (bout a bottle of wine/alize a day)
I have never had a problem finding a man and out of all my exes, only 2 smoked (i.e less than 30% of all my exes.
my current boyfriend does not smoke and if he chooses not to marry me cos I smoke, then he's obviously not the one for me and sure will not be missed!

I do not hide the fact that I smoke from anyone (apart from my parents), so the guys know from the start. I therefore get very angry when they try to 'force' u to quit later in the relationship.

I'm not saying I will smoke forever. But I will not drop the habit just to attract men. The ideal man will be one that if he is unable to 'accept the fact that i smoke would 'respect' it and not attempt to force or threaten me to quit but one that will encourage me in 'subtle' ways to quit.

All am saying is, u guys need to open ur minds. U cannot judge a person solely on one habit. thats why u always end up with the 'good' girls who show u pepper. All that glitters is not gold and u cannot judge a book by its cover.

FTS, this dosent have to do with any african mentality or anythin, i didnt grow around smokers, my friends dont smoke but drink moderately then why should i marry the complete opposite of me

asthma inbabies is not caused by a smoking mother. however, i do not pllan to smoke while pregnant.

as i said, i dont even want to be involved with a man who has a one track mind. i am mature enuff to know that it is what lies beneath that matters in a person i.e personality, mentality, intelligence and sensitivity. i am a woman of strong character, integrity, charisma and intelligence and whoever fails to see and appreciate that because of 'smoke' is unfortunate and its only his loss.

Why do we have to drop the 'african man' mentality? We're africans afterall. You really don't expect us to adopt the 'white man' mentality now simply because you smoke; hence we should see things their way.

Isn't it funny how you women expect us (men) to reason like 'other people' when it comes to issues that will only favour you; but when it comes to money spending, you then remember we're Africans who shouldn't forget our 'responsiblities'.
