Yes i can. God gave me the job in the first place and He is able to give me a better one. Some people don't lift a finger, yet they are blessed. Why should i deny myself of fellowship with my Creator? What if i make all the money on earth and die the next minute? Will i be buried with my job?

Nigerians (Africans?) are quite sanctimonious. How I wish this could translate into a moral and contrite people.

Little wonder we have Billionaire pastors who feed off the robots that constitute many a parish.

Little do people know that the pulpit is the office of the modern day MOG or whatever moniker they go by these days and how they love Sabbath.

I ask if you or a loved one had a serious medical issue on Sabbath day should you or your loved one be driven straight to church because medical practitioners are of the same leaning as you.

I refuse to quote the bible on this matter because it is a no-brainer.

The same set of people that say they would quit such work are looking for any work in the oil companies which sometimes require one to work offshore. I wonder if they think such jobs would present the opportunity to congregate on Sabbath.

There are so many professions which require one to be at his/her duty post even on Sabbath, I guess most of the contributors are not of such vocation.

I would and do work on Sabbath as it is necessary for my line of work. Yet, it should not prevent me from worshiping God in truth and in deed which is what matters most.

Yes i can. reasons. 1) the scripture says, we should not worship any other god except him. whatsoever u place above God has automatically become a god to u. He is a jealous God. 2) no man has anything except it be given him by God. He gave d job so serve him in it n not push him aside only to remember him when u have problem in d same job. 3) there are more important things in life than money- God & my eternity. what shall it n profit me to be paid all d salary n loose my soul. the job may put food on my table n all but it ends there, it will not secure my tomorrow not to talk of eternity.
4) when u stop going to church n forsake the gathering of brethren; u will die spiritually. how? your prayer life, worship life, studying of d scriptures, morals etc will gradually disappear. before u know it u are involved in things d real u will not do, compromise will come & u end up with issues in that same job may& might end up loosing it.
5) when u attend services & you are spiritually alert, you are under covering. the devil can't harm you but the moment he succeeds in luring u out of that covering, he wouldn't waste time to strike.
6) don't ever say u will make up by playing sermon tapes cos it will not happen. either u are tired or u sleep off or there's no light or sth cos devil must create sth to keep u off God.
Whatever u do, remember eternity. His coming is already here.
experience is the best teacher.
Lastly, i can guarantee u that if u leave that job to sincerely be in his service, he will provide not a better but best for you. He knows you have need of it.
Peace.

that could come out only from a stupied nigerian, what is with a doctor, a nurse so they should not work on sunday, you will drive to the church with your car, you have an accident, somebody will take you to the hospital, because ambulance is also not working, so you come to the hospital no doctor there, okay no problem they will bring you to the church and i know the pastor is also a doctor so he can heal you, but if this will not happen you have a problem because you don't pay all your money to the pastor so god didnot bless you.

I will not for obvious reasons, the church won't feed me or my family and the job would be better compared to possible alternatives.

Promhize: For example, if you have to go to work on sunday, which results to missing Sunday morning church service.
Would you quit your job in such scenario? Try to give reasons

Or in a more pleasant scenario, you have to alternate with someone in your workplace, thereby missing church once in three weeks, i.e going to work on sunday once in three weeks. Would you?

HAPPY SUNDAY
Say who die?

This comment can only come from a fanciful morön. I am not a doctor, neither am i a nurse. I don't have an excuse. Gerrit? It is my opinion. I have a right to it. Pls don't kill yourself.

I will quit, based on simple obedience you are to work for six days and then rest on the seven day basically to worship your creator, what on earth can be more important than this; note me yes christ like is not by going to church but believe me there are lots of benefits attached to worshiping and praising God in totality and most importantly sacrificing something you feel is very important. " In the presence of God there is fullness of joy.

Re: Would You Quit Your Job, If It Affects Church? by babestell(f): 2:55pm On Sep 08, 2013
My Church laws state that missing mass on Sunday without valid reason is a sin. Work can be such a reason especially if there is no other option eg like going for early morning or evening mass or attending obligatory mass on saturday evenings. If truly you could not make mass then you are free of sin. I have spent sundays offshore before and though at first I wasn't happy, I have learnt to live with it. Though I try to attend daily mass when I get out. Because of the level to which the world has progressed to I do not think we can still interpret the 2nd commandment in its strictest terms.

funnny most of the answers u see here.
1) most just go to church for going sake, without knowing why or what they re doing there. most go read news paper, ping, call, discuss in church, chat. so tell me do all those need to be in the church.
2) why do u go to church, answer ursef truthfully.
3) back to the matter, u av to be really devoted to quit ur job because of church, considering the nations economy, ow will u feed ur famiky or take kia if ursef.
4) but dont worry if u realky kniw who u re serving he is able to take kia of all ur needs.
5) so i wil advise u unless u re birn again, dont quit ur job, cos am sure u re commiting other grevious sins than missing church.
6) heb 10:25 donot forsake the assembly of ur brethen. nothing id worth ur relationship wit God.
7) except ur work expressly mandate it, like if u re a in medical line doctor nurse etc, security personnel etc. u shud be in church
coolbut until one sunday wen u get to bstop and couldnt find abus bike or cab to get to church because they all decide not to work because it is sunday. or u te so lucky to be sick or av accident snd u get to hospital, thetes no one to take kia of u because its sunday or u get to atm and its not working all over then u will appreciate those workinh on sunday cos bliv we need them to do it.
9) my line of work makes it impossible for to be able to go to church every sunday, but i try my best as much as possible wenever am not on call.
10) follow the word of God then u will kniw what to do.
Re: Would You Quit Your Job, If It Affects Church? by waldigit: 3:02pm On Sep 08, 2013
It depends on ur relationship and the depth of ur revealation of GOD. I was once in this type of situation, I left the job based on my well planned goal. My advise is that one should always add value to himself. If you fear losing ur job more than God, you have low self perception problem and that's an abomination in the sight of who created us in His own image.
The scipture says we should be excellent in what is good and be innocent of evil. With the right value it you that will be sacking jobs and not vise versa.
Shalom.
Re: Would You Quit Your Job, If It Affects Church? by starpryde(m): 3:05pm On Sep 08, 2013
It depends, if I have a work doing in the church which always demand my presence and it is difficult to strike balance, then I can quit the job. And this also depend on the type of work? Not pay this time around, but whether my job is that of necessary service like Doctor,Nurse, PHCN workers etc who always work on shift basis. And, I love Nigerians, we arrange shift,Muslims get Friday off, Christian get Sunday off or morning-Afternoon thing. whichever way you can always arrange and strike balance.Going to church on Sundays is not bad at all, but skipping it unnecessarily is not good enough.
