Definitely not worth celebrating without a good structure. The huge population is the biggest factor here, however, what's the point of having the biggest economy with no infrastructures; poor banking structure; no middle-class and huge gap between rich and poor; no security etc.?

In other news: my shabby house with poor architecture and no plastering that's rodents ridden is also about to become the biggest house on my street. I need to celebrate!! undecided

Thank God, one reasonable comment.

If i say you don't know Nigeria, you will start crying.
Nigeria has the largest middle-class in Africa and our banking structure is not poor.
Probably one of the best in Africa, after southafrica.

Boss13: At least we are making South Africa reconsiders its position. I think I might want to try GEJ because he is serious about the Nigerian economy. Others may just be interested in the economy of their pocket and that of their children

Economists predict that Nigeria might soon be the best place to do business

Nigeria is now positioned to become a dominant economic force. Nigeria is fast becoming a leading investment destination in Africa. So much so that it is becoming a threat to South Africa's status as the biggest economy on the continent.

a country in darkness can never discuss economy. no security. we have nothing. if we want to tell ourselves the truth, south africa is our current colonial master. every family in nigeria is either using the dstv or the mtn and i can tell u these two companies are controlling nigeria today. the only thing south africa can depend on us for is corruption.

I guess when Japan was the biggest investor in China she was also China's ''colonial master''. Now who is top between the two? Go and learn before ranting.

You must be living in a cave to not notice the moves being made in the power sector, to be talking about 'darkness' as if it's permanent. ''No security''? Even in America there is ''no security''. Hundreds are gunned down daily there. Yet the economy is the strongest in the world. As for saying ''we have nothing'', I guess if you call an annual GDP of $300 billion, Africa's largest middle class, Africa's largest university-educated population, Africa's top oil and gas producer and the continent's soon to be largest economy ''nothing'', you should tell us where your father hid that pot of gold worth trillions.

It is laughable to suggest South Africa is in panic over Nigeria.

Nigeria is not going to remain together long enough to reach SA,talkless of surpassing it.
Nigeria is doomed to breakup. The cracks are too deep and every region is preparing for war instead of thinking how to fix the huge cracks.
