PAPDAN To Launches Made-in-nigeria Phones. by hunter21(m): 7:47pm On Oct 02, 2013
Lagos - The Phone and Allied
Products Dealers Association
(PAPDAN) disclosed plans to
launch two locally-
manufactured mobile phone
brands next month. The President of the
association, Godfrey Iyke
Nwosu, said the made-in-
Nigeria phone brands would
be the outcome of a joint
venture among 20 Nigerian investors who have pooled
resources to introduce
devices that will cater for
local market needs. The two new phone brands,
according to him, will be
called iQ and MaxTel. Nwosu said that PAPDAN
had identified a growing
appetite for cutting-edge
technologies among
Nigerian telecoms
consumers. The two phone brands will
cater for the medium and
smart phone segments so as
to offer choice to consumers,
Nwosu said. The PAPDAN President said
the planned introduction of
the new phones would
provide home-grown
solutions for the Nigerian
technology market. PAPDAN, a group
representing the interest of
phone dealers in Ikeja
Computer Village, the
nation’s largest market
cluster for technology products and services, has a
membership strength of
over 3 000 businesses. Members of PAPDAN occupy
a crucial place in the retail
end of the tech market, as
they sell in excess of 2
million units of phones and
allied devices monthly into Nigeria and several
economies across West
Africa.

Finally, something to give techno a run for their money. If they can entice the Techno-fanatics, its all good.
I am almost sick from hearing that name.

Good initiative.... Let's hope things 'll work out well, and hope they base their product on the Android OS, that's what can make them sell fast.

Some people who use Tecno products are not less than average Nigerians. It is a matter of choice and priority. Have you ever seen a man at the point he lost his expensive BB or I Phone? I am told of a former Nigerian ruler, who can who buy your village, who was using a Nokia 3310 until a few years back, maybe still. A man's life does not consist of the abundance of his possessions. A phone is a utility as far as many are concerned. What is your problem with Tecno? Why cann't one go through a thread without the name Tecno popping up? It is irritating.
