@ Topic where one grew up contributes a lot when one is getting married if someone from Anambara grew up among the Imo people it is likely that the person will marry from that place, why? because he /she associates with them alot either in business, church activities or work and somehow develop bond or used to the person.

Although some people still have that mentality of not going too far especially the first born. Love breaks every boundary

ifyalways what  dposter said is d truth,so many igbos refuse to marry from some kind of states ,and yes some marry too from other states but d mentalities of those that refuse to marry must change, some imo's and abia's don't even want to hear d name anambra not to talk of marrying there, and some anambarians don't even want to near umuahia reason is because d umuahias r wise, now d umuahias don't want to go to mbaise and enugu reason is because they r too conny and tricky ,now some of the abia's dont want to go to umuaka in imo state reason is because they r more of jazz pple, ndie ogwu,my eldest sister married an anambra man ulu n'nemu luru onye delta ,yes there r some of them that marry because they don't care, its all about love but there r some that have sworn never to marry from other states

Since we are now using ENGLI-IGBO, Let me join the train. Ka anyi ja onye anyi eziokwu, whenever one wants to marry beyond his or her local goverment or State in Igbo LAND, the folks at home and even some friends will tell you a thousand reasons not to go very far and they will demonize the area you want to marry from. I agree with IFYALWAYS that it is some not all Igbos! But the few exceptions are those their parents and uncles are more Lagosians or Americans and hardly travel to land of their nativity. Such folks even do the so-called traditional marriage at Lagos, Abuja or Kano without knowing the mindsets of the folks back home. Some Anambra guys are accussed by the some Imo babes that they usually disappont after courtship claiming " Nne m gbara m aluna gi"

The boundary of love not yet broken in some Igbo land is the osu or ume caste system. It has lasted more than 500 years and simply refuses to go of fade away! In Umuoji in Anambra State, an entire village, Urueze, are regarded as outcasts! Till today, other people from other villages find it very difficult to marry from there due to parental pressures and unbroken boundary!
