planetuzor: Seun my ad has been approved but the price for politics section have changed from what I saw it as yesteday on the list of price list which was 26k to 38k this morning..?
We decided to refresh our dynamic price algorithm this morning because we noticed that advertisers were being overcharged a little bit. It will take about 24 hours for the prices to be normalized and up to 1 week for the prices to really settle down. Currently, the politics section appears to be overpriced, but most other sections of Nairaland are simultaneously under-priced, so you can benefit by targeting the under-priced sections.

Chairman Seun, this is one of the scene I asked you to imagine, but you didn't reply to that question. I also noticed the change of price earlier today. The steady price change won't go down well. I think you should name it "Milk The Cow Dynamic Ads System".At least it will make people understand it better. If their is an increase in traffic on a specific day, it should be to the advertisers advantage. Make the price fix and the Rev.Father will end the mass

Sir Seun, what people are complaining is the unfixed price. Imagine if you refresh this your dynamic price algorithm in the future, and our credit just run out instantly, what will happen

It will be hard to do business or place adverts where am confused abt even pricing. bro my advice is get a ads system dat charges per click or impression or one with a fixed price per day

I understand your concerns. It was unfortunate that we allowed a bug to mess with our dynamic price algorithm at this critical time. Our prices were very stable before the bug. We know that it's critically important to make the prices stable and reliable. I think our quick response to the situation where our customers were being charged too much shows that our goal is not to milk our customers but to charge you fairly.

And what if there is a drop in traffic? should it also be the advertiser's loss? Is that fair to the advertiser?

Seun: And what if there is a drop in traffic? should it also be the advertiser's loss? Is that fair to the advertiser?

If there is a decrease in traffic, it should be advertiser's loss. It is the same in every business. For example, a company will give you the price of an item base on the current dollar exchange rate(market value). If the buyer pays some percentage before the production starts and along the line the dollar fails(market value changes) , it is the company's loss, if dollar increases, it is the buyer's loss. The company cannot tell the buyer to add extra payment because of the change in exchange rate neither will the buyer ask the supplier to reduce the price because of the current exchange rate.

Just like the manufacturer and the consumer, there is no past and there is no future in business. Everyone believes/lives in NOW i.e the current market value.

Use the current traffic value of each of the section for the price quotation. If tomorrow you become the next facebook, then use the then traffic to give quotation.
If you decide to update, you can update the price monthly but if you must update daily or hourly, please send email and messages to people advertising at least 3hours before you update so that they can know whether to pull down the add and wait until your price go back to what they want. It is really complicated

Youngzedd: What if there are more than 6 advertisers on a particular section, how then will the ad be displayed?

dwizy: I doubt if you will have to wait. No ads will have a particular space. If they re more than 6, then they will automatically rotate.
Abi Seun. Am I right?
Wrong. You will be unable to place your ad on a section if all the 6 advertiser slots are already occupied.

Yeah, it should all be advertisers gain and loss.

Yeah, all my mind was advertising in the politics section which have seen to be 26k and all of a suddent it rose to 42k...

So seun I will suggest u make the price fixed and atleast reasonable and really there is no way u won't still make ur money on the long run..

Anyway m looking at putting another different ad apart from the one intended for politics(which I don't think I can pay 42k for now which hv put an halt to) for another new ad on other cheaper sections.

ludot: Nice improvements but I have questions. 6 slots for adverts when like 20 people have paid.
Let's say the adverts are rotated, that means my advert won't be there for a full day. Why then should I pay per day or per week.
Only 6 advertisers will be able to place ads in a section at the same time. If 6 advertisers have placed ads, then other advertisers will have to wait!

Consider PPI or PPC as way of charging.
We considered PPC and PPI, and we will certainly continue to consider them. Our current system actually takes impressions into consideration.

Seconded.

Seun should know that this is not what one can come up and fix. It requires others suggestion more especially from advertisers.

Vicky2k: we are waiting for more adjustments in the new dynamic ad system. I need to use a small budget to test its effectiveness out cos as a small business owner, the return on investment is the most important thing. Have been doing Custom Audience Advertising in Power editor using Facebook and its great but i think Nairaland will offer a more targeted Nigerian Audience. We await your reply
You can start with a budget of 5,000 naira. See this post for the steps: www.nairaland.com/1480482/nairalands-new-dynamic-ad-system Thanks!

Dear Seun,

On behalf of my management I kindly wish to express how well pleased we are with this new dynamic ads. This to my organisation is the biggest thing that have come to happen to our business. Our ad is presently on your platform and the impression is so far so good.

Our only wish is that your pricing will not be compromised anytime soon. We are very much impressed with this new price list and hope to place our ads on other importance sections.

Some things I observed are:

1. The feedback is very fast i must say.
2. Advertisers can be allowed to design their own ads
3. We can now choose the section(s) we want our ads to display
4. The last one is just too good to be true *I dont wish to say it here so others dont mess your benevolence wink grin

My boss just informed that we could be going for at least 6 months at a stretch.

Thanks Mr Seun.

Best Regards

How would I know those ones since I'm not you? That's why I'm asking so I can create products or start a business along those lines. That's why I'm a business man!

And just to add that is that fair enough reason to reject an ad on your platform just because you cannot recommend it to your family members? I bet some of your successful family members would not have recommend that you start nairaland when you started it. But here you are today! Anyway just saying my mind.

Mr. Seun,

My ad banner has been approved. I'v also moved to the next level by selecting two sections where the ads will be viewed.

However, I did not get any notification mail of what next. The system simply did the cost summation.

Kindly clarify.

Username: dataville.

Thanks!

This new AD method is commendable and far more better than the previous one, if I will wanna place AD, using this plantform, I should be targeting the days the Super Eagles are playing matches, lots and lots of viewers on that day.
