I attended d 8am service at St John's anglican church, Falomo, Ikoyi today. One of those churches whose members comprise mostly of rich people on d Island. D service lasts for 1 hour and ended around a few mins after 9am. At d end of d service, I decided to charge my phone on one of d public sockets outside d main church building. Everything went well until about 45 minutes after, when a woman (whom I later understood is d Vicar's wife) suddenly approached me and violently pulled my charger from d socket. I immediately snatched it back from her and gave her a piece of my mind. She stubbornly kept insisting that I leave d place, but I told her I had every right to be there. Then a few mins later, a man who later introduced himself as a police inspector approached me and grabbed me by d waist. The vicar's wife then instructed d 4 security men to attack me. From that moment, I engaged in a struggle with d 4 security men as well as d police inspector. D fracas lasted about 5 mins, in which time they desperately tried to bring me down to d floor without success. They resorted to using slaps, kicks etc, but I was stubbornly resolute and fought back. The police inspector then ordered d 4 security men to collect my phone, but I was prepared 2 put my life on d line 2 protect my precious blackberry, as well as 2 prove to them that I was no coward. When d situation was calmed down, d security men then tried to explain to me that d woman is their "madam", given d fact that she's d vicar's wife, and insisted that I should have obeyed her. But I was having none of it. Afterall, d church is d house of God, and not anybody's personal business enterprise. To cut d long story short, about 2 hrs later, I got one of my soldier friends whom I met at NYSC orientation camp, to go 2 d church and confront d security men....and trust them...as d "typical" Nigerians that they are, they quickly twisted d story upside down in order to support their own version of events. I then angrily pushed d most stubborn security man of them all, but I was restrained by my soldier friend. When d situation finally calmed down, d security men now started appealing to me to "forget d matter" and let peace reign, as well as to come back next sunday to worship. But I was having none of it. I really want 2 teach these people a lesson, as well as d church leadership. I am seriously considering a multi-million naira lawsuit. Even though I threw my own fair share of punches, I can authoritatively say that I did so in self-defence. Afterall I was attacked by 5 people at once. What do u guys think? Is there any nairalander who can assist me in putting together a lawsuit against d church? Let me hear your ideas.

Just petition the church's PCC and request a writen apology.

That should be enough.

Have lodged a complaint at the nearest police station
Have you photographic evidences of bruises, injuries, wounds etc sustained during the assault
Have you medical records for or hospital reports of treatment received for the grievous bodily harm
Have you eyewitness testimonies; there must have been some bystanders
