Head coach of the Nigeria's Supersand Eagles, Audu Adamu has dedicated the success of his wards in this year's Copa Lagos Beach soccer tournament to president Goodluck Jonathan.
Nigeria won the trophy for the third consecutive time on Sunday after beating fellow African foes, Senegal 4-2 in their last game.
The Supersand Eagles began the defense of their title with a 7-1 decimation of Germany last Friday, but they were made to sweat as they managed to beat Lebanon 10-9 in their second duel at the Eko Atlantic city in Lagos.
The Nigerians however scored a total of 21 goals and conceded 12 to emerged champions of the Copa Lagos.
Adamu told supersport.com on Monday that the inspiration him and his boys got from president Goodluck Jonathan masterminded their triumph at the 2013 Copa Lagos.
“I am the happiest man on earth because I have fulfilled the pledge I made to Nigerians and president Goodluck Jonathan that we would give them christmas gift and I thank God that we won the competition again.
“The president told us in Abuja that we should try and win the title so that the 2013 would be so colourful for Nigeria going by the success of the Super Eagles and the Golden Eaglets.
“We are the last this year and I want to dedicate the trophy to the first citizen in Nigeria (Goodluck Jonathan) whose words inspired us to success,”. Adamu exclusively said to supersport.com
