Yes,it does happen.
In most of the Nigeria culture,it is a belief that the woman(wife) is a heritage of the family.In the event of the husband passing on,she is handed over to the nearest kinsman in the husband family to take care of her and her children and include performing a wife function.But this trend is fading away because no body wants to do it any more especially with the advent of churches in every corner of the street.
