Ugbade Unsure Of Overseas-Based Players' Availability

Flying Eagles assistant coach, Nduka Ugbade, is hoping that they can get the full complement of the invited overseas based players as they commence camping for the 2015 Africa Youth Championship.

Nine overseas based players have been invited by the Flying Eagles coaches for camping ahead of the tournament in Senegal but there have been reports that some of them may be unavailable for the preparation.

But Ugbade has told SL10.ng that they expect all nine invited players to show up to the team’s camp in Kaduna.

“We expect all of them (overseas based players) to show up to camp in Kaduna. None of them have said anything to the contrary, so we expect them to come to camp.

“We have a very important tournament to prepare for and I’m sure the players want to be a part of it also, so I don’t see why they wouldn’t show up,” Ugbade told SL10.ng.

However, despite expressing optimism about the availability of the players, Ugbade reckoned that if in the event that any of the players don’t show up, they have ‘capable replacements’ for them.

“We are expecting all of them but if any one of them fails to show up, we do have capable replacements for them. We have players that can step into their shoes, so I don’t think it should be a problem.”

Ugbade: Celebrations Put On Hold

The Flying Eagles will open 2015 with an endurance drill in the morning of New Year’s day.

“We will begin 2015 with hard work,” said Flying Eagles assistant coach Nduka Ugbade.

“There is still a lot of work to be done before our first match at the AYC and so we cannot afford to relax even for a day.

“All celebrations therefore have to be put on hold until we have met some of our targets.

“Our New Year’s day will be when we would have qualified for the World Cup in New Zealand.”

The African Continental Hotel in Kaduna, which has severally been home to the Nigeria U20s, plans a special treat for the squad thereafter.

Deadline

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Musa Yahaya and FC Porto's Chidera Eze have promised to join up with the Flying Eagles squad by the January 15 deadline handed them.

mmanuel On The Brink Of Asdod Deal

Nigeria Under-20 invitee, Israel Emmanuel, is close to securing a deal with Israeli outfit MS Asdod, after arriving the country in view of a transfer in the winter transfer window.

The striker, who impressed while in camp with the Flying Eagles during their first phase of camping, is owned by Glo Nigeria Premier League side Akwa United.

A thigh injury picked up in one of the team's training sessions ruled him out of the final part of their camping and scored twice on his return in their last friendly game but had to go off injured again.

He was subsequently omitted from the list of 30 players called up for the final phase of camping going on now in Kaduna but a move abroad will make up for the disappointment of being snubbed. Emmanuel, if signed on will increase the number of Nigerian players at the club to three, as the club who once had Efe Ambrose on their books, have Aliyu Abubakar and Juwon Oshaniwa on their payroll.

Alampasu Awaits To Conclude Talks With Real Oviedo

Nigeria youth international, Dele Alampasu, isfervently praying that coach Manu Garbaauthorizes him to cut short his training with theFlying Eagles in order to complete his move to Real Oviedo.

The Spanish Segunda División B side ran the rule over the glovesman late last year, but failed to reach an agreement with him before he traveled back to Nigeria.

The 18-year-old is on the verge of signing a four - year deal with the third - tier club, having impressed the technical crew during the first round of trials, according to one of his advisers, Dominic Egbukwu.

''We couldn't agree with Racing Genk, so he was invited to train with Real Oviedo in Spain,'' Dominic Egbukwu told SL10.ng.

''He did well in the trials and we are hoping he will sign a four-year contract when he returns to Spain to conclude discussions.

''Alampasu has his visa to Spain. He was supposed to travel this week but he has to wait for Manu Garba to clear him first.

''If he gets approval from the Flying Eagles coaches, he will leave next week.''

During the Christmas holidays, the Under 17 World Cup-winning custodian traveled to Benin City alongside Granada's Isaac Success, who lost his grandfather a day before he arrived Nigeria for,the short break.

Success Hopes To Join Flying Eagles In Future

Granada striker, Isaac Success, has given hisword that he intends to join the Flying Eagles training camp if he's authorized by the powers that beat the Andalusian outfit.

The 18-year-old was shaken by the death of his beloved grandfather a day before he arrived the country from Spain for the Christmas holidays. And this contributed to his failure to rejoin the Granada squad ahead of their game with Córdoba next Monday.

''I am leaving tonight for Spain. I am trying to get over the loss of my grandfather, he was so close to me. He died a day before I came to Nigeria,'' Isaac Success said to SL10.ng.

''I have been in Nigeria since the 22nd of December. Burial preparations took over one week, so that's what delayed my trip to Spain.

''If I can't join the Flying Eagles before the African Youth Championship, I pray they qualify for the World Cup and I hope to be a part of the training camp before the tournament.

''It's a privilege to play for the national team. I want to meet my old friends and the new players that have been invited.''

Having broken into the Granada team this past summer, Isaac Success believes he has adjusted to the rigours of La Liga, and the teenager is confident that he will surpass last year's achievements.

''When I first joined Granada, Odion Ighalo was putting me through but he is no longer here. I am now being guided by a close friend who works at the club.

''I don't know what the future holds. This year, I will do well for the fans and everyone connected with Granada because I used the first part of the season to know everything about La Liga.

''Everything will be better in the second stanza. The players and the fans have supported me,'' Success concluded.

In 13 outings for Granada so far this season, the highly rated starlet has found the back of the net once, which came against Valencia last month.

Granada To Fine Success Over Late Arrival

Flying Eagles striker, Isaac Success, has incurred the wrath of Spanish La-Liga side Granada who will reprimand him over his failure to arrive in Spain on time after the Christmas break.

Success was suppose to have arrived on Monday the 29th of December 2014 but as of Friday the 2nd of January 2014, he was yet to arrive in Spain from Nigeria, where he spent his holidays.

The situation has left the club furious as his late arrival might rule him out of Monday's La-Liga clash against Cordoba, with Granada needing to pick up all three points.

He will most likely be fined by the club on arrival but a close source to the player told SL10.ng that the 18-year-old missed his flight but should be in Spain on Saturday.

Set to turn 19 on the 7th of January, Success has forced his way into manager Joaquin Capparos' side despite scoring once, he earned top marks for his all round play in the 13 games he played before the break.

Moses Aware Of Heerenveen Interest

AS Trencin's Moses Simon, who is heavily linked with a winter move to Dutch side Heerenveen, has told SL10.ng he is aware of the interest from the Dutch side.

"I won't lie I'm fully aware of the interest and it makes me proud but I'm not to decide, I have a contract with AS Trencin and I trust the club and my management team to do what is best for me," he said.

Simon, who primarily plays as a winger has, taken the league in Slovakia by storm since joining AS Trencin a year ago, scoring 17 times from 38 games with 11 assist.

His form in the Europa league this season won him a lot of admirers with English premiership side Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Heerenveen appears to be ahead of the queue for his services, with reports in Slovakia suggesting they failed with a bid for his services.

According to Muyiwa Lawal, a source close to the deal, the valuation of the player worth is the separation point between both teams with Trencin wanting in excess of £1m.

Heereveen, according to Lawal, are willing to offer £500,000, with add-ons that might take the deal within the region of Trencin's valuation, but the Slovak side are hanging onto £1.5m in add-ons.

Etebor Gets Flying Eagles Call Up

Flying Eagles Warri Wolves Oghenekaro Etebo Warri Wolves forward, Oghenekaro Etebo, is expected to join the camp of the Flying Eagles by Thursday after being called up by Coach Manu Garba to help beef up the team in preparation for the African Youth Championship (AYC ) in Senegal.

SL10.ng gathered uncertainty over some of the foreign professionals invited played a role in the coaches looking the way of the Wolves forward, who has also been with the team in past camping exercise during the qualifiers.

Etebo might play a role in Friday's friendly game against the football team of the NYSC if he arrives in camp as expected and he is also penciled down to take part in the Super four contest in Abuja, which the Flying Eagles have been invited to take part in.

The 19-year-old missed out on a chance to feature at the African Nations Championship in South Africa due to a trail opportunity with Serie A side, Udinese, which didn't go as planned no thanks to an injury he picked up during the trial.

He returned to Warri Wolves at the start of the just concluded season, but had an injury interrupted season hence he failed to meet up with his impressive goal tally of 12 goals in the previous season.

Mu'aazam Included In Rijeka's Training Camp Squad

Flying Eagles striker, Alhassan Ibrahim, is one step closer to sealing a professional deal with Croatia side HNK Rijeka after being included in their winter training camp squad in Spain.

Popularly known as Mu'azam, his participation at the African Youth Championship has been thrown into further doubts, as he will be with Rijeka in Spain on the 19th of January where they are expected to spend two weeks, before returning to pursue their dream of winning the league in Croatia where they currently trail leaders Dinamo Zagreb by seven points.

Rijeka are poised to sell top striker Andreij Kramaric to Leicester City and they believe the Nigerian, who has been on trial the past two months, can make up for his sale when the league resumes, as he has been impressive in training although they are yet to offer him a professional deal.

SL10.ng learnt the club will offer him a two-year deal with an option of a further year after the training camp in Spain.

Financial Irregularity Discovered In The Transfer Of Kelechi Iheanacho To Man City

SL10.ng understands that Taye Football Academy, the grassroots team that owned the economic rights of Kelechi Iheanacho, has threatened to drag Henry Galeano and officials of Manchester City to court over irregularities discovered in the transfer fee paid for the striker.

Through the English Football Association, the Citizens had requested for the 18-year-old's International Transfer Certificate (ITC), a prerequisite that must be fulfilled before the club can apply for a work permit at the Home Office.

Before issuing the ITC, the Nigeria Football Federation conducted due diligence by contacting Taye Academy to confirm if the proprietor's domiciliary account had been credited with the sum of £350,00, being the transfer fee stated on the Transfer Matching System.

But Taye Academy's supremo claimed that he received a payment of US$320,000 from Manchester City, which is a shortfall of US$209,305 going by the current exchange rate.

And he has accused United States-based licensed agent Henry Galeano and his Nigerian partner Solomon of cheating him out of =N=38 million, alleging that they connived with Manchester City.

Taye Academy had pressurized the Nigeria Federation not to release the ITC until the dust settles, but sources in the know have informed this website that the document has been issued and sent to the United Kingdom.

To prevent money laundering and crediting of transfer fees to a wrong party, the money paid by the buying club is always stated on the TMS.

Kelechi Iheanacho's agent, Henry Galeano, has not yet responded to SL10.ng's enquiry as at the time of this report while Taye Academy promised to answer our query on the 20th of January.

Flying Eagles Thump NYSC

In preparation for the African Youth Championship the Flying Eagles defeated the Nigeria Youth Service Corps (NYSC) 5-0 in their first friendly game since resuming for the second phase of camping.

The Flying Eagles, missing most of their regulars, took a while to get going as NYSC snuffed out their early threat, with some piece of smart defending in a keenly contested ten minutes of play.

The NYSC team, smarting from a 2-5 loss to the Super Eagles, found themselves a goal behind in the 20th minute through a well struck free-kick from Ifeanyi Edibe.

The NYSC team were two goals down five minutes later when smart work from Prince Aggrey and Taiwo Awoniyi set the latter free only to be upended in the box leaving the referee with no option but to award a penalty.

Ifeanyi stepped up once again and dispatched his spot-kick with precision, before Bernard Bulbwa raced clear of the NYSC defence before rounding the goalkeeper to make it 3-0 minutes before half time.

Coach Nduka Ugbade, who is standing in for Manu Garba, saw his team go four goals clear courtesy of a smart turn and finish from Taiwo Awoniyi.

NYSC had a chance to reduce the deficit via the spot but goalkeeper, Olorunleke Ojo, saved the spot-kick much to the frustration of his team's bench.

Minutes after the miss, the Flying Eagles went five goals up after Bulbwa beat the offside trap and his intended goal bound tap-in was met on the line by Aggrey.

All efforts to reduce the deficit by the NYSC team proved abortive, as the Flying Eagles despite failing to increase the tally held on for a 5-0 victory.

Ugbade upset despite F/Eagles win

Flying Eagles assistant coach, Nduka Ugbade, is lamenting the performance of the Flying Eagles despite their 5-0 win over NYSC football club.

- We can do a lot better than this, said Ugbade, who stood in for the absent Manu Garba.

Conversion

- We created 13 chances but converted only two in the second half when we should have finished off most of them.

- We have to improve on our finishing and also our tactical awareness.

Flying Eagles starting XI:

Olorunleke Ojo – Mustapha Abdullahi, Samuel Okon, Roland Silas, Zaharadeen Bello - Akinjide Idowu, Abdullahi Alfa, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi, Bernard Bulbwa - Taiwo Awoniyi, Prince Aggrey

Ezenwere Did Not Instruct NFF To Issue Iheanacho's ITC To Man City

The proprietor of Taye Academy, Kennedy Ezenwere, has insisted that he did not instruct the Nigeria Football Federation to issue the International Transfer Certificate of Kelechi Iheanacho to Manchester City.

Ezenwere has claimed that the Citizens and agent Henry Galeano short - changed him on the fee paid for acquiring the Nigeria youth international from his nursery team based in Owerri.

It is interesting to note that the parties had struck a deal for Kelechi Iheanacho to join the EPL champions after settling for a price tag of £350,000 (equivalent of $529,305).

But Taye Academy supremo says Manchester City are yet to remit $192,305 to his bank account, and he has pointed out that the club reneged on an earlier agreement after they paid him in dollars instead of pounds.

''Manchester City have more than ten percent of the total transfer fee. I only have problems with Kelechi's agent, Henry Galeano, and not Solomon, who works with Galeano in Nigeria,'' said Kennedy Ezenwere to SL10.ng.

''They are owing me more than =N=30 million. Solomon is not involved, he has been advising me well.”

''When they requested for Kelechi's ITC, the Nigeria Football Federation called me to find out how much was paid by Man City.”

''I told them that Man City paid me 337,000 dollars instead of 350,000 pounds, the gap is a lot.”

''Kelechi called me last Tuesday to alert the NFF to issue his ITC. I have to write the NFF that everything is okay before it is released.''

Despite the pronouncement of Kennedy Ezenwere, everything indicates that the 18 year old's ITC is already in England, with the Nigeria Football Federation disassociating itself from the ongoing dispute between Man City, Galeano and Taye Academy.

An impeccable source in the NFF told SL10.ng : ''No club can stop the Nigeria Football Federation from issuing an ITC except there was no contract signed. The boy is already in England, so you know the (true) story now.''

Prior to agreeing terms with Manchester City, the Golden Ball winner at the 2013 Fifa Under 17s had been on the radar of Udinese, Monaco, Sporting Lisbon, Porto and PAOK.
