Tradition and culture evolves. It is part of growth, there is no fixed way of doing things, that will be stagnancy. It is possible that the writer has experienced or heard what they have written, the fact you have not heard it does not make it false. For those saying men and women are not equal, this also comes from ignorance and little understanding of spiritual matters. Our creator is a spirit. We are made in his image both male and female. We are all spiritual beings. Explain how one image of God can be less than another image of God? We are all equal before God. It is those who lack understanding of spiritual matters who continue to talk about inequality, these kind of people never have whole or satisfying marriages
