@olason,
You can only know after you have tried it out. That is the spirit of FTA.
Why don't you give it a shot? After all you have all the info you need
to swing into action grin

@George_D
I am very interested in the design you are using on the scalar. I have been stretching innovation to the limit to come out with a handle that will give all my LNBs maximum exposure to the Focal Point. Clearly I am still searching. Maybe we should see a picture of what you did.
And thanks for your input on the W3A for my motorised, however in response to your comment i note that the closest signal i track around 7E is 50 West i.e Atlantic Bird3.
The CRTV is the closest KU bird i pick on the east side. Around 210 E. All other birds i receive ok apart from W3A and Sirius 4

@All
It Appears this is the reason we are having trouble with Sirius4:

Liberty's $530 Million Lifeline Keeps Sirius XM Afloat
Sirius XM got a reprieve from bankruptcy Tuesday by agreeing to an under-the-gun deal with Liberty Media which will ensure at least three years of continued service. But the respite does not come cheaply: The parent company of DirectTV is taking a 40 percent stake in the once high-flying company and providing an immediate cash fusion at payday loan store rates so it can meet a $172 million obligation that is due today.

@ecowas4all,
I will post a pix of my set up tomorrow in season 3 grin.  Meanwhile, you
need a little bit of ingenuity to modify the scalar that will carry the 3 lnbs.
Having said that, you should be able to track sirius 4 and w3a if you can get
as far as 5W since both of those birds are at the top of the arc and they come
before 5W if you're tracking from the east. I'm thinking the problem you are
having is with your declination angle. You may need to carry out a little adjustment
to be able to track the top satellites properly.

@ George D
                   i dont think u ve to fear even if they lock the panaroma stuff, its just a small taste of what the juju-card can give you. The providers selected like 10% of what u can achieve with the juju-card.
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by GeorgeD1(m): 5:57pm On Mar 03, 2009
@pito,
I hear you. Keep on rocking. Ju-card to the rescue grin

@ALL,
it's nice to see that this forum is growing at a very incredible fast pace.
i am sorry i have been silent lately. this is mainly due to the fact that there's nothing happening for guys on 90cm dishes. all the hype in here is all about 1.8m and above dishes.
so, we dat can not afford the space at the moment can only read and be informed about happenings in the FTA world of large dishes.
anyway sha, i am looking forward to something new in the digital terrestial platform for those in Lagos. a new cable company will soon start running test transmission. i will keep the house posted as things unfold.
well done to all the gurus in da house.

I would like to wish all of you a happy end of P2, I joined at the tail end but I learned a lot on FTA and hope to be more active in the next part.
How about my Google group application?
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by BUTONEDAY(m): 7:33pm On Mar 03, 2009
@ George_D
The panorama stuff now has 16 available channels. It has been on for about three months or more. No one can say exactly when it is going to end just as no one can predict the end of the juju card. Since the set-up cost is low, I advice you to take advantage of this opportunity. Just as you have said "Enjoy while it last"

Maybe you can use this post to launch "season" 3 as it is also news of a launch?

GlobeCast launches new African DTH platform on Astra 4A

3rd March 2009

GlobeCast has today announced that its African DTH platform has successfully started transmissions on SES ASTRA’s Astra 4A (Sirius 4) satellite. African broadcaster VoxAfrica is one of the first channels to sign up for the new platform which provides sub-Saharan Africa’s widest and most powerful coverage.

VoxAfrica called on GlobeCast to provide capacity and distribution its programming to Africa. The new platform on Astra 4A, located at 5° East is the first Ku-band DTH platform with coverage over sub-Saharan Africa, providing broadcasters with the opportunity to reach households across the continent.

GlobeCast has contracted one transponder on the satellite that facilitates uplink from Europe and is compliant to distribute services to IPTV or terrestrial network headends. The new platform, which is an alternative to the pay TV bouquets in sub-Saharan Africa, responds to a strong demand for free-to-air Ku-band coverage of this crucial region. Several African broadcasters are already in contact with GlobeCast to secure positions in this coveted space to secure positions in this coveted space and extend their audience to 56 African countries.

@All
I think those migratory channels (RDV and co.) may be doing so for one reason; MONEY. You need to realise that majority of the FTA signals are not actually DTH strictly speaking, but are Always-On feeds fro re-broadcast stations and up-link for DTH operators like DSTV [eg. those Nigerian and Kenyan channels on Intelsat 903 receivable in Europe are actually used as feeds for DSTV's bouquet]. It appears these operators (RDV and co.) cannot afford paying for Always-On transponder space so they're constrained to arranging short leases and frequency borrowing for now. So, all their carriers need to do is to hook-up to any available TPs on different birds and supply parameters to the earth stations for down-link. Those times RDV was scrambled on NSS7 and Sirius it may have been that they were owing or the arrangement had ended but the parameters had not been removed from the TP.

So Twinstaiye,
Am I set to be the first person on season 3 or what?
I suppose STV and Co will return to Sirius 4. I have noticed references to that bird in many recent readings. Lets wait and see.

The choice of what you buy is really yours. a lot of people love the convenience that comes with a USB enabled devide, but mostly the problem is that they a bit more expensive but compensates for the other functionlitiees. starsat is good receiver with a different GUI but belive me when i tell you this, it is the same with the echolink that we use. here's list of the types of decoders that you can surrently use the JUJU CARD on, i sincerely hope that i can exhaust this page and quickly move us to season 3.
