Wives are increasingly out earning their husbands, but their new financial muscle may be causing havoc in the home. Some allege that when a woman is the bread winner or earns more than her husband, that she may find it difficult to be submissive to the husband, and that she may likely cheat. While some men don't believe in the above assertion as some men are still proud of their wives even when they earn more than them. Whereas some men may get jealous. As for me, I think if both parties understand themselves well, they should be able to manage their resources together since they are one and make the best use of it. What's your opinion about women being the breadwinner or earning more than their spouses? 2 Likes |

My wife earning more than me doesn't automatically translate to her being the breadwinner. I will pick all my family bills to the last naira - my wife may choose to help at her discretion. Her money is her money. If I run into shortage, I may borrow from her- pick the bills. When I'm back on my feet, I'll pay back to the last dime. Besides, who wouldn't be proud of a woman that makes more benjamins than he does? I definitely will be. On an alternate universe, I'll see it as a challenge to hustle harder and be the man she will always be proud of. Only insecure men go about hating on their wife's better income. This is a potential source of problems. Truth be said, men in such situations tend to feel threatened and resentful towards their wives and this arises from their ego. It is due to the traditional belief that men ought to earn more. Some men can get so resentful/jealous that they begin to find fault in everything their wives do. If a man cannot stand the fact that his wife is earning more, then he should stand up and do something to increase his own earnings. But then, that is the competitive spirit at work and it won't be good for the marriage in the long run. One thing that must be understood is the fact that marriage is not a competition. It is a partnership. If one partner earns more, it should be seen as to the advantage of both. The man should appreciate his wife and the wife should maintain her respect for him. The fact that he earns less doesn't make him less of a man. His earnings could increase and surpass hers in the future. 13 Likes 1 Share |

my inlaw became jealous wen my eldest sister, her wife, started her own trading busines & was doing wel. busines waz moving. she was contributing like 50% of d upkeep of d house. his husband would destroy her articles for sell and disgrace her in public once there was a little argument. he beat her atimes. nw her busines has fallen they are nw feeding frm hand to mouth. pity them. they cant even get a decent apartment. frm flat to 2 rooms, frm there to batcher without a good convinience wit 6 children. 4 Likes |

Nothing will happen,except the woman is arrogant in nature. My boss,whose wife works in a reputable company always transfer her salary to my boss' account once she's paid. The couple takes joint decision on how to spend it. This makes their union wax stronger. My cousin's wife works with Nestle,and she earns 3 times her husband's salary,outsider can never know,because she's never pompous,or arrogant about it. It depends on the nature of the wife....if she is humble. ..good for the man,if not ehn...na oyo the man dey o......no biggie if a wife earns more than her hubby, it's a bonus for the family. |

it depends on who you marry.... when i met my wife, she earned a lot more than me but in all that time she made me feel like i am a millionaire, she never disrespected me, Today, i earn alot more than her and let me put it this way: after God its her.... some people may think that this thread is about the woman being bitchyy because she earns more, trust me most times it is our mind playing tricks on us as a man..... all her actions and inactions, you will attribute to her financial independence, most time it is not the case. once you marry someone, not based on attributes be it money, big yanshh, big jugs, fair skin, dark skin, but based on personality, trust me u wont even notice who is richer. 48 Likes 2 Shares |

I actually dnt see a biggy if she earns more dan me, as far as am not lazily sitted at home. Meanwhile her earning more money doesn't mek ha d bread winner of d family as i wil still be footing d bills. Though she can help if she wills. #IMO though 3 Likes |
