I tink the part u re possibly referring 2 as d cornea is the bulbar conjuctiva..d white part of the eye. So please try confirm if it is the bulbar conjunctiva u re saying, cos the cornea is the black part of the eyes...so try make this clear 1st if its actually the cornea or the conjunctiva u are referring to,so we can start 4rm dere...am really grateful to jaunty 4 being there 2 ansa all ur complains while I was away...gud job 2 u doc and others

Dr help me my eyes aches me
and
some times i cant see anything for a moment especially wen am out on the sun and tears flows out of my eyes whenever am reading,
watching
tv, typing on computer or pressing the phone and it aches me wen ever i sights the sun or early morning brightness of the sky
or
even electric lights or anything that is brighter.
pls help me am just 21 and i dont want to lose my sight.
You wouldn't go blind. Tearing when reading and using computer/phones indicates that your Near vision is not comfortable, you might have refractive error. If it comes with headache or eye aches, then it could be hyperopia or hyperopic astigmatism. What U shld do is go to an Eye clinic and see an Eye doctor. The doctor will test and advice U.

do u feel uncomfortable or feel and sees better with the glasses? Wot the glasses does is that it heps to relax the muscles of ur eyes, thereby preventing u 4rm experiencing eyestrains and headache...so whenever u take off ur glasses, the eyes muscles therefore tends 2 contract back, and try 2 adjust back to ur normal refractive status, that's y u might experience some kind of blurry vision 4 some few seconds after taking off ur glasses...the trut is dat u nid 2 always wear ur glasses until u re told 2 stop by ur eye doctor..the glasses gives u the best corrected vision, prevents u 4rm having eyestrain and oda symptoms associated wit astigmatism

there are basically different types of myopia each with its own causes n prognosis, hence,it usually nt compulsory dere mus be a change in ur refractive status after using d glasses 4 a while.I wil like 2 know the actual power of ur prescription.5years is realy too long 4 u 2 ve stayed without visiting an eye clinic...if u have high myopia,u ought 2 be visiting an eye clinic @ least every six mnths...I belive ur refractive status nids 2 be reviewed, dats y u experiencing eyestrains and headache cos ur glasses is no more compensating 4 ur refractive error..tanx

Hello Dr. Please help. My mom is about 70 years old. She complains that her eyes itches a lot and tend to water. The water does not come out, rather it forms a kind of cloud in her eyes that clouds her vision making her vision blurred. One Dr said it is eye cataract. How do we treat this please.

@70 cataract is common and its not surprising. Its actually the lens in the eye that dev opacity. The management is simple : if the cataract is mature, then she should go for cataract extraction. Usually its done one eye at a time. If it is not mature, then the doctor might try some optical corrections to determine if there will be any improvements in her vision and comfort until the extraction. NOTE : Be careful not to allow anyone deceive u into buying cataract drugs such as catalins n catarest with the claim that it will clear the cataracts. Although they might help a little especially @ the early stage of cataracts BUT they do not cure or clear cataracts completely esp when dealing with mature cataract. Save ur money and do the cataract extraction.(The doctor will have to first assess the integrity of her ocular system especially the Retina to make sure that it is healthy b4 doing the surgery).

Hello Shawlay..,retinitis pigmentosa is hereditary and therefore there is little you can do about the probability of transferring it to your baby. But what U can do is to always take ur baby for yearly assessment. The earlier its detected the better. Basically, retinitis affect more of the Rod cells that help with night visions. Vitamin A and Omega-3 diets help to manage and slow down the rate of progression of Retinitis Pigmentosa.

Nice job Jaunty, @ 34yrs old can anything be done to reverse RP? How effective is HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy)? Is there a confirmed known cure yet? Which diets are fortified with vitamin A and Omega-3?

thanks for your advise but this particular lens m using now was prescribed for me like 6 months ago and I remember complaining to My optometrist about the frequent headaches that comes with d prolonged use of the glasses but She dismissed It sayin that with this new glasses that I won't experience such again. truth be told ,this headaches keeps coming back intermittently especially at d left eye . I forgot to say that the two eyes ain't d same. the myopia is more at d left eye so I guess d power of d left lens is higher . actually I don't know the exact power of the lenses

Thank U optm. You r correct abt the dry eye, because frm age 45, abt 60% of women dev dry eye from hormonal changes. But the thing about older patients I have seen personally is dat they tend to have a myriad of ocular issues presenting at the same time. So if she have been diagnosed of cataracts that does not rule out dry eye. So for the itching and tearing it could be dry eye, but for the blur vision and her perception of fluid accumulation that is more likely to be cataracts.

Cataracts is not usually heredity. I would like to know if she is diabetic cus that also result in blur vision. Although blur vision from diabetes tends to change depending on the level of d blood sugar

Hello Alubosa, HBOT is still @ the experimental stage and so I can't say how effective it is. But for now, Vitamin A therapy to slow down cell degeneration is the mainstream management. What treatment have u been on?

there has been no known lastingtreatment 4 RP but proper management is the key to preventing blindness.. The disease is as a result of genetic disorder and it is hereditary. It affects the peripheral area of the retina were the rod cells are abundant thereby bringing abt night blindness and inability 2 see well in the dark..the only known supplement required is vitamin A therapy and other anti- oxidant drugs like maxivision etc as this contains carotenoids and other anti oxidant..as for how 2 go about it,a daily dosage of 15000IU of vit.A is needed. please try visit ur eye doctor, cos he is in the right position 2 continue with the management of your case.please advise ur siblings and family members to always have a routine eye check and RP screening cos this disease is familial...tanx
