I havent.

Never been mistaken for anything but Yoruba and Nigerian.

However, i do hear people say they sometimes get asked if they're some other country or ethnic group (probably more common with light skinned people perhaps).

so, what nationalities have you been confused with by others?

i know the common ones include carribean (jamaican), AA, etc.

within Nigeria, have you ever experienced being thought of as another tribe or state?

I'm Anioma but sometimes I'm mistaken as urhobo because of my first name.
But I quickly correct them and state the full form of my name in igbo, thereafter translate to english.

Always mistaken for a Yoruba probably cos of my English intonation somewhat. But whenever I go pidgin,- Hardly, anyone need a soothsayer to tell them where my tree lies.
Surprisingly, I can easily come off as an Igbo to some very "Yorubaic" people who haven't left their enclaves. Which I'm so NOT.
In conclusion, I'm an all-rounded and well-mixed Nigerian with language versatility of four tongues.
Gboosh!! grin

I heard of someone who was always called another tribe in spite of all insistence to the contrary.

He was even told to stop pretending to be his own tribe, and why is he a pretender, lol.

People easily mistake me for Igbo, some even go ahead and speak in Igbo to me. I'm from Rivers and proudly Ijaw.

This Indian man where I work asked me if I was from a different country because of the texture of my hair!

that kind of hair is common around that side (Rivers), not so?

Different state nko?

I think sometimes people might have mistaken me for ogun on occasion ( or vice versa), I seem to have a few lookalikes there, strange as that may appear.

I could be wrong though.

Yep, hardly do people guess that I'm Nigerian, except if they are Igbo.

I usually get mistaken for being Caribbean, Zambian, Ghanaian, South African, African American and even Eritrean.

I suppose because I have a British accent, they just assume. All my sistrs and my mum, are always mistaken for another nationailty.
