Considering your criteria...pretty much every modern v8 is kinda crossed out; except maybe an ***ahem tundra-and even with that i'm skeptical. Show up at almost any mech shop and most of the mechanics will run into the shadows. The ones left behind will look at your engine, scratch their head and be like 'dis one be sensa moto, na wahala dat. make i change am to caboorata.' or 'v8! na problem moto dat. make i change am go opel astra 1.8.'

if you're thinking of such luxury cars I guess your movement would be a bit restricted you would have nothing to do with areas with terrible roads. All these cars roam the street of lagos daily without being towed by a truck. I would go for the S500 if it is the W221.

If you reside in Abj even better. I'm surprised you're discouraged don't you live in Lagos? Come to Lekki on a Sunday evening you must see at least 4 super cars I'm talking Bentleys, Rolls Royces, Ferraris etc. if you're on instagram check gidicars (http://instagram.com/gidicars) I spotted 2 rolls royce and a brabus G700 all uploaded there.

I will pick the porsche cayenne, the GT version would even be a plus with all those cars you listed maintenance won't be your problem after they are all that glitters is GOLD, lol.

The cayenne is so common police boss too have grabbed their own copy. I will choose it for that reason.

But the Benz will always make a statement anywhere it finds itself so that can be your second option if you need a saloon car.

I wonder why you didn't include the Audi A8 and a BMW was included, what nerve lol.

i tell you brother, thats why i most times, when am not doing anything, i'll just get into the road cox i must see cars that surely turns heads to the extent that 2014 Range Rover Vogue no more turns my head, let alone the Evogue. There is this latest Cadillac Escalade or GMC Yukon that am yet to see tho

i excluded the Audi A8 because it has an all aluminum shell, very difficult to panel beat in the event of a damage.

I must confess that i have a thing for the W221 and i am seriously leaning in that direction, I appreciate your contributions and I'm still reading.

These are all lovely motors and the only thing they have in common is that they have high output engines (bhp and torque) and they sit at the luxury end of the market...thats it!

They all put down their power differently and have different handing characteristics. The Porsche will take corners differently from the BMW. The Porsche is the only SUV but it has 4x4 just like the Phaeton. The Lexus is very smooth and quiet but less powerful than the Mercedes.
Apart from the Porsche the rest are rear driven V8 powerhouse luxury limos.

It really depends on what you want out of your desired purchase. Yes you want it to be suitable for Nigerian roads. None of these cars will be cheap to maintain...but you know that already.
No car is suitable for Nigerian roads. There are no mechanics specializing in any of these models. But all cars are adaptable. A good garage can always be found if you ask around. A lot will depend on frequency and type of use and lots of other variable factors. I assume this will not be your only car, or it will not be a 6 days a week, 11 months in a year car.

If properly chosen from the outset with no issues and properly maintained any of these cars will survive in Nigeria.

You have started very well with a good shortlist. You can easily check out the pros and cons of each car yourself and reduce the shortlist to 2 models. You appear to be leaning towards the S500 which is a super saloon, ultra comfortable and swathes of power under your right foot.

The only real help Nairalanders can give you is to say..I have had or I currently run one of these models. I had this or that issue with it; or I have this good mechanic who really understood my car. This part usually fails and it cost me this much money.
