Scarcity of sachet water otherwise known as ‘pure water’ has hit Ilorin, the Kwara State capital following industrial action declared by the manufacturers in the state.

The manufacturers were insisting on increasing the price of a sachet of pure water from the current five to ten Naira.

The proposed increment appeared not to have gone down well with the residents, particularly the low income earners, who had taken solace in sachet water as a result of non-availability of pipe borne water in their homes and surroundings.

It was gathered that delivery vans of the sachet water manufacturers that usually shuttle Ilorin metropolis to distribute water to prospective wholesalers, retailers and private users had, since Monday, halted the distribution in furtherance of their threat to downtool.

Investigations revealed that some wholesalers and retailers, who hitherto had several bags of the commodity in their stores prior to the latest development, had started hording them in a bid to sell a sachet for N10 when the scarcity eventually becomes more pronounced.

So some States still sell pure water #5 ,this is serious oooo! Even my Villa started selling pure water #10 immediately they heard that Owerri Town increased their price to #10.


The last time I bought pure water #5 was in Onitsha, I didn't even ask d girl for my balance cos I thought they also sell #10. The poor girl returned my balance n I was shocked Tho it was a long time ago before Umu Otu started selling #10.

__ though when I am out, I just package small and go for the bottled one. That's mainly bc I don't drink much water - if sip from the pure water small...I troway am(10N gone)

but now...I carry empty KOMKOM in my bag, and pour the pure water inside ___ all na packaging.
