This is a norm in Yoruba land as they prefer kuvuland(Bush) to the toilet system. I did my NYSC in OSUN and I talk from experience. Though u can say their house rents for 1year are cheaper than 1bag of rice.

Non availabity of anus infrastruction is common in the South west. I served in Ogun, schooled in Oyo and lived in Lagos. Toilets are in short supply. This law should transcend the entire region. Mr Fayose, thank you for taking the lead in this regard.

Of course, after filling stomach infrastructure and there is no toilet infrastructure to empty it makes the whole process a pitiable dismal abysmal and regretably lugubrious!

Rather than making pronouncements and giving ultimatums, what a governor worth his salt would do is to pass enabling legislation to cover building construction as a whole, and then a section of the act would make toilet construction compulsory and also stipulate appropriate penalties for failure to comply. That's how governance is done.

I won't be surprised if this directive isn't applied at all or reversed after a couple of months.

Between yes,a provincial (state) govt could subsidize any material to support the poor,the needy and their citizens.

In most cases Government builds free public toilets,enacts and enables policies to all commercial public service providers (e.g Shopping malls, filling stations,etc), to also ensure sufficient convenience facilities as such are mandatory and incorporated in their structural plans and constructions.

If you have left the shores of Nigeria for a more organised country you will understand.

It is this free and subsidized mentality that have brought about a geometrical increase in the almajiri style street urchins and agberos dotting every landscape in the south west. They feel everything has to be provided for them free of charge or subsidized hence the lazyness.

I did my NYSC in that state,aramoko village. we have to contend with every crawling things in the bush,while answering the call of nature..

This ultimatum should be extended also to Lagos slums,where only few houses have toilet,and bathroom.

Imagine a person having to bath very early,or no bathing that day,or having to shot-put every time he wants to poo.

Ekiti Govt arrests 70 lanlords without toilet facilities in their houses

No fewer than 70 landlords have been arrested in the last two months for defaulting in providing toilets facilities in their houses in Ekiti

The Director of Environment and Sanitation, Mr Tunde Balogun, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ado-Ekiti on Friday.

Balogun described the landlords as “recalcitrant residents’’, who always test the will of government when issues relating to policies and programmes come to question.

He said that the affected land lords would be prosecuted under the Ekiti State Environmental and Sanitation Law, 2004 and the Environmental Regulations 2009, as amended.

He recalled that this year, the state Ministry of Environment organised an awareness campaigns on the need for the landlords to abide by government’s policy of “One House, One Toilet’’.

“Those landlords, who were arrested, turned deaf ears to the government’s order, thinking they can ignore an important policy such as this and get away with it,’’ he said.

The director, who said the exercise would be continuous one, declared that all offenders would face the wrath of the law.

“There is nobody in Ekiti, who will say he is not aware of various existing Environmental laws that are passed by the House of Assembly and assented to by Gov. Kayode Fayemi.

“They think we are not serious about this, and so, they must pay dearly for this until they learn to comply.’’ (NAN)

No vex, go to omuo-oke, ekiti east. Stop at CAC bustop in front of the cemetery, enter the road by the church n and check the buildings there. There's even a guy who did building dedication for a duplex without toilet, that one was in oyo anyway.
