Most times when someone asks what my favorite colour is, I bend my head sideways and with a sheepish grin I say green. But almost right after that I’ll start feeling guilty. I mean, not that I don’t love the alluring beauty and tranquil serenity that exudes from green nature (and of course I’m proudly Nigerian), but who wouldn’t love the dark orange colour of sunset, or the refreshing deep-blue colour of the ocean.

I’m a man – yes, but I still find myself being immensely awed by the brilliance of the red colour of the Rose petal, and when I see how the sunflower glows when it catches the rays of the sun, I fall even more deeply in love with yellow. I love the sweetness and seeming innocence of pink, the sight of purple calms my nerves any day, and I could stare at white for the rest of my life because I find its purity contagious.

Unless I’m ready to part with my skin or at best ‘Michael Jackson’ it (I really hope my poetic license covers using his name as a verb), then I’m stuck with brown forever, and, say what you want about black, I actually find that colour deep. Yes, deep. It gives this impression that you could keep tearing through it without reaching its end, even when its painted on paper I still see it in 3-D. For me that signifies endless opportunities, limitless discoveries. Believe it or not, that colour actually forces out the adventurer in me.

This is why I don’t have a favorite colour, there’s just too many sweet ones to pick from. I’m something of an Oliver Twist when it comes to colours. Colours are beautiful, I believe they are the best things that ever happened to the world (after salvation that is). I have a crazy imagination, to some extent, but I just can’t imagine a world without colours. I say God bless God for making the world a colourful place.

Theres beauty in every color. I don't have a favorite. Its the reason I enjoy graphic works (digital & every art) at my leisure

Thank you. My point exactly. I still don't understand how anyone can have a favorite colour when there's a myriad of beautiful ones

Nuges, you write so beautifully ('We Bled Together' is a collosal masterpiece). And I love your perspectives about things. I marvel at the clay by which your intellectual idol is moulded.

From what you've scribbled here, I can safely say that you're not only a brilliant writer of prose but also someone with deep poetic sense. I'm sure awesome poets like OMA4U and Texanomaly would agree with me.

Bless you, sir.

Cheers! smiley

Wow....these are the best words anyone has spoken/written to me in a long time, and coming from a man I respect so much makes it all the more amazing. Thank you Larry, thank you very much.

Something you want to tell me?

You can tell us who asked for your favorite colour, or the reason for your thread.

Did you mean to post somewhere else?

Wow! Thanks for tagging me. Now I need to check out "We Bled Together".

@Nuges
Larry is right. You have a beautiful perspective, a poetic heart, and you write wonderfully. The creative flow of thought is lovely. You are a romantic at heart. smiley

Even the technical makeup is precise. You told us what you were going to say. You told us, in a charming way, what you wanted to say. Then you told us again in your conclusion.

Brilliant! It is a pleasure to read your writing. I look forward to reading more from you. smiley

Thanks a bunch Texanomaly. The title of the story is 'We Bled to get Here', and there's a few others you might enjoy.
