U really controlled ursef bro! I personally would hav flared up immediately I greeted them and they refused to answered. The issue would hav been clarified before it even gets to that level. My greetings are expensive to me and I don't give it out anyhow. Some people are rude and at the same time lousy. Maybe they weren't properly recruited for that position sha.

I am telling you, the bros tried, me I won't take such insults.

Some pple are just naturally rude by default. In case of these girls, maybe they secured their appointments thru the back door or the usual man know man.

They still exist? I been no know o.cheesy

Anyways, OP kpele, no vex too much, I don't know why many customer care agents are usually rude in naija, although I don't understand why you kept mute after letting them know why you were there, you could've reiterated that you were speaking to them, then watch what happens.

I don't entertain such without leaving them with something to think about, I hope your letter gets attention.

Btw OP, you for greet them two times just to be sure, the women were prolly tired and thinking "this guy no dey even pity person, him no even fit tell us weldone" grin

I sent a staff there sometime last week and she came back with similar feedback same with my partner about a month ago.

It is obviously a norm with them there.

The best customer service without a doubt is diamond bank, the staff there are amazing.

The worst is zenith, the arrogance and bad manners is appalling

But those companies spend millions of naira on a regular basis training these companies.

Running a service that helps train company staff how how to treat customers and prospects alike i know there's something we implement called "Result tracking platform" whereby we monitor the employees behaviors after such training over a period of time.

Visafone raking billions of dollars as profit can't tell me they don't carry out such training or monitoring policies.

If it was in a sane country, I would have worked out of that place and get intouch with my lawyer and the next step is to sue the company on the grounds of discrimination, emotional trauma and insult to my person.
You should be telling us how you scolded and dealt with their irresponsibility at the point they uttered that nonsense.

I intentionally didn't utter a word but rather pretended not to have heard them because my plan then and there was to report them to their head office. Wanted to go and drop a hard copy at their Victoria Island head office but the day had already gone so i sent them an email. If i had responded, they would have turned the whole story around and blame me for being rude to them.

I was just trying to lighten the mood, because it's actually their place to greet you, but as a polite person yourself, greeting anyone first shouldn't be a problem, having said that, the ladies are not supposed to be there like so many of them in Nigeria.

I usually try to restrain myself whenever I encounter such people, but there's only so much one can take.

I just hope something is done about the trend.

I understand how you feel.

Visafone Not Vodafone

Their CDMA makes it more useful for corporate business owners because of the "01" number instead of using gsm numbers for official lines.

This CDMA, how affordable is it please?

Honestly i don't get it. Why're are Nigerian customer care agents so hostile? They carry over the typical 'do you know who i am?' attitude to their places of work & blame their enemies in the village when they get the boot. Smh

Exactly!

I am not surprise, all Nigerian girls have attitude problem, I remember when I wanted to travel to turkey. The lady I went to ask simple question about when they starting the boarding pass. She gave me a deaf ear. I will never employ women to my companies. They will fold it for you.

Not True.

Do your studies well. Even developed countries have laws protecting both customers and employee alike.

We have it in Nigeria but it is a toothless bull dog agency.

I live, work and own a business in the U.S. As far as i know, there is no legislation which expressly dictates "courtesy" interactions between employee and customer. Employee protection laws exist, but do not apply in this case. Customer protection laws exist, but have nothing to do with courtesy - just the right to get/demand the product/service you have paid/agreed upon.

Of course, harrasment laws would limit certain actions, and litigation is the order of the day here, so people have to behave or be sued.

That said, quality customer service is the biggest focus of most businesses because as i mentioned earlier, the free market takes care of itself.
Nigeria still has a long road ahead before customer service becomes a priority, but consumers have a major role to play in demanding the quality service they deserve.

It's simple, if you visit Iya Basira on your lunch break, and she treats you like shite, don't return. Soon enough she'll be replaced by someone who can retain customers by being a courteous human being.

Same experience, same office 2011 or 2012. In fact, a former University mate I've not seen in years was there and she was among the culprits, I don't even think she cared to recognize me.

I promptly contacted a top Visafone person through my a friend and I believe they called all of them to order. The Visafone top gun pleaded with me to name the ex-school mate, I initially decline but under much pressure and her assurance the staff would not be laid off, I obliged. She was still there as at '13 but I've dumped them when for no fault of mine, I couldn't use nearly 5GB data til its validity expired as they had a mast failure in my hood, all they offered was, 'Sorry for the inconvenience"

Cheaper than the tariff of gsm and equally appears to be more professional for a business. i.e, 01-999300 as against 0807777999900 for an official line

Mine happened in GTB at airport road, Warri two months back when I wanted to register for my BVN. The lady in charge, Joan (I tried not to forget the name because I intended to report but forgot) was just so rude to people registering that I couldn't help but ask her what the problem really is. People were asking her questions and she answered back in a rude way. When I got to my turn, of course all my questions were met with rude answers. I swallowed it because highest her pay nor pass 150k.
What flared up was when an old man came over to the her 'double' table to fill his bvn form. She said "Oga pls move to the other side". The man moved to one end. She said "Oga, shift" in a very disrespectful way. The old man said " why don't you explain gently where I can stay to fill the form insteading of directing me like a baby?". She sighed and ignored him. A man old enough to be her dad. Yes, she didn't directly insult anyone but her attitude was just not it at all. Everyone there faced the same fate with her. I quietly did my registration and walked away with this look of pity on my face.
Because however you treat people's mothers and fathers is a huge evidence of how bad your upbringing is.

Normally i would have ignored such behavior on the excuse that the workload on their staff was much that day or they were all under pressure but unfortunately their reason for their bad attitude was to my hearing. This is what happened.

I walked into the Visafone office on Adeniran Ogunsanya in Surulere, Lagos state to purchase an accessory which even though is still under warranty i didn't want to be delayed by the normal submission of purchase receipt and the rest before the item could be replaced. So i walked in and greeted generally ("Good Afternoon" ). i noticed that only the police officer in uniform sitting opposite the door responded while the 3 customer service agents seated just by the door all didn't respond. I never bothered reading meaning to it because that wasn't the reason i went there in the first place so i walked up to the counted and inquired if the accessory was available. To be greatest surprise all 3 customer service ladies pretended they didn't hear me and all ignored me. I stood there for nothing less than 3 minutes until a young man from the inner office came to attend to me, he directed me to meet another guy in the inner room, as a was going in, i overheard one of the ladies (the one in the middle saying) "He want us to attend to him when he didn't greet us."

I was so furious at that statement. first of all, i greeted when i entered which only the police man in uniform acknowledged. Secondly, it is not even my right in anyway as a customer to first greet, the reverse is actually the case. over a decade in business has thought me that even a toddler who is a customer or prospect must be highly respected so why is the rule for Visafone's agents different?

The unfortunate thing is that we have at least six of their phone we use as official lines and all of them are very active lines so it is not like they are doing me i favor. I am actually directly or indirectly paying each of those rude ladies salaries as my continuous patronage of their company means they still have a job.

I have written their office a letter through enquiry@visafone.com.ng i hope they get to read it and call all their staff across the nation to order. This was the same arrogant behavior their sister company (Zenith Bank) put up initially until the likes of GT Bank, Diamond Bank and First Bank showed them how to treat a customer.

This was the same nasty and arrogant attitude the likes of Celtel, Starcomms, Multilinks, Intercellular and Mobitel put up until they all folded up.

I pray the maagement of Visafone puts her employees to order. Every single customer is king, well at least that's the foundation i use to run my company and sink down the mind and thoughts of each employee. So the scenario of an employee being rude to any customer or prospects can't just be imagined except such employee has gotten another job elsewhere.

PLEASE SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE ABOUT OTHER RUDE STAFF OF CORPORATE COMPANIES.

Op you have raked for those girls immediately you heard their comment. You would create a scene and give the manager something to work on. Nairaland might not be as effective as that method.

I have sent a letter to their Head Office. I wanted to copy NCC but i just changed my mind to replace it with Nairaland.
