Don't be deceived bro. It will be compulsory. History simply repeating itself. I studied IRK and Arabic in a Federal School in Js1. They claimed they were uniting Xtians and Muslims. It was scrapped by 1986.

I don't know if there is any other motive. I sincerely hope not. I still remember the Aranic alphabet aliph, ba, ta, sa etc. I remember writing from right to left in my notebook.

federal schools are the elite secondary schools in nigeria (used to be comparable to private schools, not sure if that's still the case), however, i'm not sure of the student demographics?

On what basis can he pronounce on education curricula whether on Islam or Mathematics? This is an area of TECHNICAL expertise and should be left to experts .Once politicians become involved it becomes politicized. Imagine if a history book starts talking of atrocities against Biafra etc and a president says it should be adopted. There is presumably a process through which books are adopted for curricula.Politicians should not be involved.
What next a history book telling us that the 1966 coup was an Ibo coup? This is an unwise move that sets a dangerous precedent

This will not help you guys. Islamic studies is taught all over northern Nigeria. It is a paper in WAEC and JAMB, like Christian Religious Knowledge. What was suggested is that the Books be included in the curriculum that is already in existence.

May God begin to push those people who were shouting change.. Buhari should not try to force it on people. Or else.....

But to be sincere you know before the recent emergence of private muslim schools, we were all taught CRS at school, we learnt SOP verse after verse on assembly ground, said The Grace verse together , irrespective of our religious differences, nobody ever complained even in public primary schools only crs was taught . so whats the big deal with what mr president is offering, i learnt the way of christians as a muslim for years, never complained, it doesnt change my faith instead it enlightened me , that we all serve one God.
if you are opposing this then you are promoting religious differences in nigeria, is that the way forward, because BH is painting islam back does it make it black.
Dont you want to know the truth, will you just live your life by what your hear only, it doesnt change your faith in anyway, and if it does Alhamdullilah you are still on the right path.

Really sometimes I pity you Muslims. I don't know why I'm so sympathetic, maybe because I served in Kaduna and I once carried out an assignment in a core Muslim area. I got to see that Northerners, Muslims are just as human as Christians. It's just some selfish elites that are driving this wedge between us.
