IRS (islamic religious studies) and CRS (christian religious studies) has long been in our education curriculum. So mr man which one is religious education and why is he enforcing it on all FGCs? You cant introduce what already exists n is working unless there is more to it.

It is a book which is already in use for IRS module which was reviewed and he applauded; also advised for use in all FGC

Yes I am in my forties and an "old" woman as you say. And yes it was compulsory to study it. I schooled in Benin. I hope I have answered your questions. If you read my earlier comments I said I hope the motive is ok. I attended a Federal School and the motive then was to expose children to both religions; I guess. I have a lot of Muslim friends from my secondary school days and of course friends from every tribe. I was reacting to uninformed posts here that it wasn't COMPULSORY.
Like I said I pray its for the right reasons. When IRK was dropped, CRK was no longer compulsory for Muslims.

I don't know if there is any other motive. I sincerely hope not. I still remember the Aranic alphabet aliph, ba, ta, sa etc. I remember writing from right to left in my notebook.

Well you speak of your experience. In mine it was never compulsory. So I am judging from my experience and the experiences of majority (if not all) of the people I know.

it would only have been compulsory in federal schools due to the introduction of the new JSS curriculum (or vice versa, ie the new JSS structure might have made it mandatory). The curriculum was not in other schools until the following year I think.
