remember that abia and ph are proxy to each other, apart from the red cap and okpu agu cap (also worn by ibibios), we wear bowler hats...

there was no difference from southeast and south south in dressing in those days....politics have divided us.

there was little difference from southeast and south south in dressing in those days because of our climate....politics have divided us.

SS has very rich but different and distinct cultural xteristics. I lived in Delta state for over ten years joggling between Warri and Asaba and all the towns/cities between them. Been to Calabar and PH on few occasions too. Those days were good indeed.

This is banga soup.
Originating from the prestigious Delta state. But other SS tribes have their own versions, we call it abak in Akwa/Cross. Typical banga is made with purely seafood meat. Fresh fish, prawns, shrimps, periwinkles, etc. Enjoy!

Igbo Deltans in the house na true?
The last time I was in Asaba, the Igbo Deltans wore bowler hats and all like other SS people although they also wear Igbo caps too. They also love fish too and they enjoy banga and starch like the average Deltan.
In fact apart from the Igbo language I don't see much difference.

This is why people are hating on your thread.

There's nothing like 'south south' outside of Igbophobia and petropolitics. An Igbo person has more in common with an Ibibio than an Itsekiri ever can. South south is not a culture or heritage, it's geopolitics. That's why your thread is being hated on by Igbo people and ignored by so called south south people.

Anioma swag. Slightly different from pure SE but the red cap is unmistakeably Igbo.

@sweetmelon

This same diversity you mentioned are same with different Igbo tribes.

I am Ngwa, our dressing is a combination of Igbo central, ibibio and Ijaw with blow hat, our food is different, our culture unique, language (dialect) exceptional and culture in terms of ancient religion defined.

Igbo is not a tribe rather an ethnic group whose membership is dependent on common interest which intermarriage bonds and common ancestry (most times and not always).

Having said that, how is south-south intermarriage compared to southwest or southeast?

If intermarriages between different tribes that make up South-south are not a priority over others then it wouldn't and doesn't exist as a people rather it's only a geographical expression.

If there are no major differences between us and the other south south, it then means there are no major difference between Igbos and South South.

did you escape imbecility?, that Anioma dressing is purely an Onitcha(Anambra) style... EVERY ATTEMPT TO BRING DISUNITY IN THE GREAT IGBO FAMILY WILL BE DESTROYED.

We Aniomas wear akwa ocha as shown in your picture with red cap as well as Igbo regalia with red cap as shown below by delta state governor Sen Ifeanyi Okowa who is an Igbo man.

Lovely swag.

Like I earlier noted, the red cap is very common among the Delta Igbos.

I can deduce your problem from the question you asked.

You are suffering from Identity crisis and that is what he wanted to help you solve

You are a product of unidentical tribes in Nigeria and only traditional marriage can solve your problem.

Stop attaching yourself to people you have no affinity to except being a Nigerian

These are typical Rivers native attires.
The First by uplanders.
The Second and Third is worn for ceremonial or casual gathering.
The Fourth by the Ibani.

Sweetlemon, you got number 7 spot on.

Any ethnicity you come from in the SS, you tend to be sorrounding by 5 or more neighbouring ethnicity..this enables you to appreciate diversity and be friendly to anyone you come across.

........including the Igbos. grin grin

Take a look at this picture and you'll wonder if this was taken from the SE. But no, this a pure Rivers state cultural photo, live from the boat regatta. Another, thing about this dress is that it is a common cultural attire adorn by virtually every ethnic group in Rivers State.
