Mathew 5:29-30 said it all.
If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

ProphetUdeme:
My cousin applied law in this year's jamb and also wrote the post utme exams but unfortunately her name was not released and she took the supplementary form and the staff at the school's admission unit told her she will be admitted to study Islamic Studies.
But this girl is a devoted born again Christian and since the doctrines of Islam and that of Christianity are in direct contradiction as it might affect her walk with the Lord. She requests for advice.
Should she take up the course as she has been home now for 3 years due to lack of admission, and she says she cant stay home any longer.
She needs your advice please

My candid advise for you is to be focussed on what you are offered. Studying a particular course has nothing to do with your religion.
Moreso, you might likely be the best in the department .
I wish to tell you that my first IRK teacher happened to be a christian and very sound indeed.
Secondly, we have an erudite Christian professor of Arabic in faculty of Art , LASU that distinct his religion from his profession.
Thirdly, a conscious Muslim brother who never absence from Masjid for salat also studied CRK in AOCOED and he's presently a lecturer in the department.

Finally , have an open mind to study the course may be you can contribute your quota to change the negative impression people have about Islam.

I WISH YOU BEST OF LUCK .

if its you, ll you take up IRS as a course in university?
The answer is no!
meanwhile your story look like a fabricated one.
Its totally absurd to jump at CRS or IRS because one was rejected from law.
so, this thread never existed in real life

There is a saying by holy Prophet Muhammad صلي الله عليه وسلم that said: Seek for kowledge even though in China.
My reaction is that China is not a Muslim nation but the prophet cherished knowledge a lot when he was with his companions.
Please don't be deceived by the so called highly fanatical advisers.

If you don't mind enrol for the course and see the outcome. I promise you will not regret.

Please free your mind.

wow nice. Am in C.R.S too but in education. So whats your mum doing now is she a C.r.k teacher? Yes seen your post. Thanks thats a very nice advice

She is now a business woman and a school proprietress... getting a degree does not necessarily mean that you must practice what you studied. it just gives one an experience to have a foresight of what you want to be. I know an architect whose first and last project was the design of his own house, after that he has been doing import and export business. Don't let religious sentiments get in the way of her future.

Hell No! Besides what will be her job when she graduates because i'm sure as hell Muslims won't allow christians to teach their children Islamic studies. Again, how does it feel teaching what you dont believe. I'd be grossed out. She should instead read Religion or maybe Hausa (or watever her language is)/linguistics

This a very super stup.id question.

She doesn't need anyone's advice to make such a decision. Why would a devout Christian want to study Islamic Studies? Do you know what it entails? You have to learn Arabic which not small thing.

Even nominal Muslim will not study Islamic studies as a course. Almost only intending Islamic Cleric does that.

Anyway, I'm sure story is fabricated just like many others on Nairaland. Otherwise, is it so difficult to give Christian Religious Studies instead since it would indicated in her application that she's a Christian. The school could have just as easily give her CRK.

Could please tell us the name of the university involved or is that top secret also? Most universities that offer Islamic Studies also offer Theology.

[quote author=Collinsemegreat post=37933466]1.She got to pray! Remember the first comandment as a christian, we shouldn't worship any other God.
2. The surety of employment with that course, is not guarrantee- not generally need!.
3. It may be a test from God.
4. If she insist let her it's her choice and she may change it with gud cgpa[/quote

'Worship any other God' na wa o, How cn u call another pagan cos u dont agree with their method. Besides what's d relationship btw studying a course and worshipping God.

No muslim will want a christian to be their Islamic studies lecturer. Its an abomination to them and she'll get killed one day.

I didn't know which to comment on, your idiocy, bigotry or ignorance. FYI, the foundation staff of the Department of Arabic and Islamic Study of the University of Ibadan were white European Christian. You can grab a copy of the school's brochure.

The first professor of Arabic and Islamic Study in Nigeria is Professor Kole Omotosho. He is a Christian and he still lectures in University of Cape Town.

It is people like you who spread mischief in the land. While not absorbing Muslims of heinous crimes, we should also not overlook deliberate and disruptive half-truths and plain idiocy.

going to university isn't about coming out to make money, it is just part of learning...

u can go if u like, but one thing i know is that, the answer is right there in your mind... u don't need to start seeking for advice orelse a Muslim will ask u to go and a Christian will say odawise.

Why on planet earth should you even consider asking such an unreasonable question. Why should it even be a consideration? Am shocked that a "christian" is even asking such a question. There is no reason a christian should go study islamic studies and vis versa. Has your cousin finished reading through the book of genesis? Let me guess the answer, no ,am sure. Be patient God will always take care of his own. You are a faithless person for u to even consider such a stupid action.
