I better hope you are not a woman, i know of a friend that called it off before the marriage and it paid off, this man had been pretending like for ever and when he thought o its a 3 weeks to go. he landed her slap for calling one of her male friends that has a deco company to help with decoration. It's obvious he doesn't want any man close to her. Stop talking nonsense, i beg, its better not to post.

see stop lying and start saying the truth. what cause the hitting? is it the first time?

women should know that that man is not your mate even as your husband. respect they say is a reciprocal. if you quit the wedding do you know the next person you are going to meet?

If your friend hit him first, she should go on with the wedding. If not, cancel it sharp sharp

I rarely contribute but when it has to do with abuse I can't just ignore. Please kitme, please tell your friend to put the marriage on hold while issues like this is sorted out. Any man with anger issues is a recipe for marriage disaster. I have seen it happen to a close family member. Hers isn't only physical abuse, verbal and emotional abuse is involved. He is proud and arrogant and doesn't listen to anyone. So please if he looks and behaves anyway like the man I have mentioned above. She should run for her life. Don't follow the old wives tales that he will change after marriage or kids will change him. They never change unless God changes them. I will advise she put it on hold or rather she calls of. Don't follow the saying that all men are the same. All men aren't the same. Some are loving and respect their wives. While some are just proud and egoistic that believes the only word in bible is submission. So they sing it like Psalm 91. A word is enough for the wise.

The wedding should be called off. Why?

1. If he hit her unprovoked, he will continue hitting her till the end of time.

2. If he hit her as a response to any verbal abuse, it will happen again. Not every man will tolerate a sharp-tongues woman.

It would be wise of her to end it now or risk losing an eye in the future.

I think the lady probably saw this coming. The guy must have been showing some traits of aggressiveness.
If he can hit you once, whether provoked or not, chances are high that he will do it again.

He will hit her again, mark my words and I'm sure she must have seen the red flags but choose to ignore like everyone of us does simply because we fail to see them through that eye after all they are the love of our life.

I once told my girlfriend that the day she would show any sign of aggressiveness towards me deserved or undeserved or push me to the edge that would make want to hit her, then the relationship is over for good.

Everything can be talked about no matter the level of your anger and vexation or you can simply walk away for the moment - In fact any form of verbal abuse is a red flag and I will not condone such from any person and I expect the opposite sex to do the same.

Battery is an inbuilt instinct, God just made him demonstrate it to made realise what you are going to experience in marriage with him, if you are wise is better to council the wedding now.

Best answer in my opinion!

The question is what stops him from beating her again? And the answer is NOTHING! There are some lines than once crossed there is no going back, and battery is one of those lines

I know some women can be loose with their tongues. I also know how maddening their behaviour can be, yet, a man should NEVER EVER EVER raise his hand to hit a woman, not to talk of his wife-to-be. whatever happened to walking away.

this slap is just a preview to what is coming. trust me, when you get married to him that's when you will begin to see his true color after all you are stuck with him now.

if she is just learning about his anger issues, I wonder what else she will discover when they get married, drinking problem? womanising? etc.

be careful.

Hmmh! The said man isn't the only man in the word.
Op, use your tongue to count your teeth. What will stop him from hitting you when you marry him. Definitely scenario worse than what caused the slap now will arise in marriage. Advise yourself o

Thanks for the advice!
I personally can't go on with the wedding.
But I don't wanna be a buzzkill or killjoy
I want her to hear it from other people.
I'm sure the people you are trying to impress and care about what they think will buy bandage and plaster and pay for your hospital bills after he has beaten you blue Black

don't deceive yourself. They're only interested in your wedding party and how they will use that opportunity to show off their latest clutch bag and shoe and have fun not your marriage so you better do yourself a favour

op is not a baby . she knows better. In fact you're lucky he has shown his true colour before you walk down the aisle with him.

Those giving you stooped advice that there's no perfect man anywhere will be the same people to make jest of you with the popular line saying shebi na you wey wan marry
carry your cross
go and pray and fast
you're too mouthy that is why

When your mother or father raises their voice at you why don't you slap them

when your elder sister or brother talks to you anyhow why don't you beat them. Then if your boss insults you why don't you remove the belt in your waist and beat him or her. How come self control and self restraints takes control of you but the same self control cannot control your fist in the middle of a disagreement with your wife

Like I always say: there are 3 sides to every story

1. The Complainants side
2. The Defendant's side
3. The Eye-witness side

She don talk her part; instead of passing judgement on the "said" man; let's call to mind the length at which their fracas/dissagreement went to warrant one party raising hands against the other party..

It is indeed good to be positive about things, but never expect attitudes to get better after marriage.

If she goes ahead she has to know that she has to pretend ,let go and choose to always rub his ego. Agreeing to almost whatever he says might work for her but if she cant do all this and more she better run cos he wont change. Any little twitch can make him react violently since he has bad temper.
