This discussion focuses more on the individual rather than the E-hailing business. Life boils down to meticulous planning. If someone can strategically map out their path, set clear objectives, and be purposeful in their actions, they can turn a small business into a lucrative venture worth millions.

Ultimately, there are crucial skills necessary to thrive, whether you're in a 9-5 job or running an E-hailing business. This most important skill is financial literacy. Understanding how money works, making it work for you through investments, and diversifying income streams are the secrets to achieving financial freedom. Some people make the mistake of saving excessively, leaving themselves vulnerable to economic fluctuations and unfavorable policies.

Additionally, mastering networking, salesmanship(one's ability to sell anything) , emotional intelligence, and time management are vital for success. I know many corporate workers with high salaries who are still discontent, while others have used E-hailing to start other businesses and are doing very well for themselves. In fact, one of your colleague is currently on vacation outside the country as I speak.

It's not about the business; it's about the individual's mindset and skillset.

My humble opinion.

Exactly my tots when I saw Gentlife post, but the troll and negativity the post connote made me to hold my peace. Omopena was right in his choice for words when he says “how many drivers can boast of 600k sitting in their account for more than 6 months”.

This life is a personal race, we all got our trials and go on our war. I learn something from Northbird the other day about blocking leakage. Felt that message was for me somehow, not like I spend extravagantly though, but regardless of finding a template that makes hustle easier, I have not been able to save like last year from my projection.

Here is it… my formal boss and a friend I used to envy their lifestyles. They only have a car and both husband and wife work in same geographical location. One at Surulere and the other on the Island. Either the husband drops the wife at work or the other way round, pending on who needs the car most for the day. That’s planning and how to mop up leakage, rather then buying 2 cars and put unnecessary pressure on their financial life. I said this because presently I have 3 cars in my possession, I obviously can’t hop into the 3 at same time, who am I trying to impress? Ya! I collect in other to expend fleets, but on my way I don’t think I want to do this again. Since last year, fueling 3 cars, on getting to each and realizing one thing of the other need to be fix, battery getting bad inbetween. Smiles* if one truly wants to fly high? Lighten and do away from unnecessary baggage.

I read a story of a lady that earn 360k monthly and she was meant to generate 300m for the company monthly. Las las it’s all about using your head and it’s never a general thing.

Mention ONE person that had done this successfully....not audio pls because them plenty here!
Though I agree with few of your submission and I think MOOVE is doing a little better (emphasis on LITTLE pls) in this regard but I think one thing that has worked for them is because they came in with a lot of CAPITAL, brand new cars, great expertise, fantastic partnership, insurance and add-ons etc..
When GAZZUZ washed his hand off ehaling like Pontius Pilate; I knew something was not right because he's someone I know for his prudence and frugality, tho I agree some had to do with individual like you say. Being a mechanic himself, a great burden of this biz (car repair/purchase) had been taken care of, albeit he still could not forge ahead abi you don see anyone wey abandon a profitable biz...
Like I always preached, my model of ehaling still remain the best, very early I notice that it's not a FULL TIME job and it's not designed to be, check the fundamentals!!
Last year, I can proudly say that I saved 100% percent of my salary in atleast 6 month out of 12 and I have done one out of four salary received this year, thanks to the Hussle...The best way to do ehailing is to get a job and do one or two in d morning and one or two in d evening!!! 10-15k and you're home...It is for sorting out bills and by the time salary is here, you will be looking for bills to pay and you won't SEE.. I'll continue to advocate for this model.
ADV of this model;
I observed that little little bills are dream killer, electricity, food at home, dstv, fuel, diff bills at home can be draining because they are not one off, they keep coming so I need little little money that will keep COMING to sort it out. Ehailing to the rescue.
Secondly, I understand that as salary earners, once you can SHAKE OFF your transport expenses and perhaps food at work, you'll be relieving your salary from close to 20% recurrent burden, some even up to 40%. Luckily my company takes care of airtime/data, I have not bought that for over 5 yrs or more. Ehailing to d rescue.
Thirdly, now as an individual, one and two helps u to focus on CAPITAL proj..For me, property section is my favorites here, tho I can't compete with d obodo oyinbo guys there because of their huge bargaining power(dollar), I focus on d basic and am erecting my second 🏠....This is to encourage someone here.
A very BIG advantage is that I am still developing all round developmental skills at work, being in tandem with folks all over d world; creating value, still schooling and being nurtured in d biz world and not just DRIVE, DRIVE and DRIVE!
I have friends that are in this biz, their frustration is similar to d ones I read here, for over 4 yrs someone can only eat, pay rent/sch fees and some few bills and that's all!!!
What would old age looks like? Your guess?

I think I've made my point of view clear enough.

Look at the parable of the talents in the Bible, and you'll understand my narrative well. If you give 3 million naira to a financially literate person with strong knowledge of growing income, they will double or triple that money. If you give 5 million to someone who doesn't understand how money works, they will either squander it or return the same money to you without any profit.

Drivers are making more than half a million naira net in this e-hailing business monthly, which is more than the average salary of a 9-5 job. The important question is, what do you do with your net income? Do you save it in a bank and allow the frustrations of Nigeria and life, in general, to consume the savings, or do you creatively use that money to venture into other lucrative opportunities that will give you steady returns? The e-hailing business brings money, just like every other business/job; it has its challenges and expenditures, like car maintenance, repairs, fueling, and unforeseen issues.

In conclusion, I don't advise people to drive for 4-5 years as it has adverse effects on one's physical and mental health. What I am saying is you should have a plan, learn financial literacy, learn 21st-century skills, and diversify your business portfolio. All these should be measured by deliberate planning.

My uncle used this hustle to build his house at Ikotun, Pearl isn't doing badly himself, Omoapena isn't doing badly either (although he likes pretending and deceiving people). I know one person here who used the proceeds from e-hailing and other side gigs to japa, and he's doing fine.

Once again, I emphasize that the mindset of the individual ultimately dictates their success in any opportunity, be it a business venture, a job, or life in general.

I'm not doing badly coz I don't rely on ehailing alone, pearl isn't doing badly as well cox he didn't rely on ehailing alone.

What I'm saying is, if you rely solely on this job and you're a family person, you will be stuck on the job for a very long time and you won't be able to achieve something tangible...

Building a house isn't an achievement to me, unless you have a passive income that requires no or little supervision from you, but if you don't have passive income and you rushed to use your active income to build a house, then you have made a financial blunder...

Like I said earlier, it will take the grace of God for someone who's a family man to leave ehailing once you're in, but as a single person who's focus and ambitious, you can save for a cause through ehailing and leave it behind....

You started your journey through the e-hailing platform and you diversified with the opportunities you got from the business. I still don't know how else to explain this to you guys.

Building a house is a financial blunder?,So spending thousands of naira paying rent montly/yearly isn't?

Who is advising you this man?

It is only a blunder when you haven't had passive income, you don't use your active income to secure assets, you use passive income to secure assets...

Lolz, how can one jump into building a house when you have nothing that gives you passive income, why not use that money to create passive income then you use the proceeds you get to build house.

If you're paying 1m as house rent, it means where you're paying that 1m, house will be valued at 50m, so you will advise someone who's paying 1m as house rent and he/she is able to save 50m from his active income to build house around area where he's paying 1m, so as to stop paying house rent when he can use that 50m to do business that will give him at least 5m or more yearly and pay 1m rent from interest and save the remaining...

He's right. Building a house is mostly an emotional decision and a financial blunder.

It will cost most people their rent of 20-30 years to buy a land and build an apartment in the area they live. What's the wisdom in that?

And good luck selling the house if you need urgent money.

You don’t build a house, but you secure investment. House rent can barely bring quick returns, but when is time to sell of? You’ve created generational wealth. A land few years ago is worth 1million, to 2million, 3million before you know it hit 10million and on to 50 million within short term. Imagine if your parents left a land for you in Ikoyi today. That’s a step way ahead of your mate.

But do you also know that the money they would have used to buy that land as at the time you feel it's affordable, if they use it to do business and manage the business well, the return they will get will be higher than the current value of land in same ikoyi...

Imagine if zenith bank owner had used the 20m start up capital in buying land and building a house on it, will that land be valued at the current zenith bank's value?

And also, remember not every land appreciates after many years...

You guys should focus on the e-hailing aspect of my conversation and leave real estate and property acquisition convo alone, It's a topic for property section.

I guess this point is where we’ve always had this illusion. We mention business so many times without insight or mental capability. Did you think it was only Jim, Tony, Subomi or Herbert that were in the banking sector back then? For every case, million has faded away. You weigh your risk and ask if it is worth it. We keep mentioning 20m, do we also understand the sharp practice behind it?

So, securing land has no risk?

Someone who wants to create generational wealth will leave business behind for his children to inherit, anyone who leaves behind lands didn't create generational wealth, he only creates wealth...

Have you heard of the story of Jesu oyingbo in Maryland, do you know how much lands this man acquired during his lifetime, if you look at his descendants, they are living miserable but if he had created business with intellectual people managing the business till date, his descendants will be enjoying royalties from the business and it's possible his descendants will be part of board of directors managing the business...

Anyway, we reason differently...

Except you have built in a prime location, houses are extremely difficult to sell. The way people will price it will make you start thinking you stole the house. God help you if you need the money urgently.

And as you're doing the conversion of a land bought 1m now worth 10m, remember to discount for inflation.

From my POV and for people with broad comprehension. Nobody is saying acquiring assets is bad.

What I'm saying is, acquiring assets with your active income which is money you earned by your hard work or monthly salary to get assets is a financial blunder. But when you gather money from your active income, use it to create passive income then you can now use proceeds from the passive income to secure assets. so that when your active income stops, instead of selling off your assets to sort bills, you will have your passive income to rely on to sort those bills till you have another active income...

I can't believe you are just getting to know that you will find it hard to leave the job if you are not determined to leave. Not everyone can handle the mental health that comes with the job. Like play, the person here that started 2022 said he just wants to gather funds from Uber within one year to go full time on his electronics business is still here with no leaving time in sight.
I started with rental, now the car belongs to me with no pinch. I bought it from the owner last year September @2m. I didn't announce it cos that's not my targeted car (03 big daddy), but had to buy it from the man cos I was ripe enough to be independent.
While some people were putting head inside traffic when the 3mb was on full lockdown, I was running my business lowkey and small-small, I didn't drive for the hustle for a single day.
I don't drive 6 days a week anymore, I drive Wednesday - Sunday. Sometimes, I drive only Friday - Sunday and put in more energy for these 3 days.
When I'm big enough, I won't be doing the e-hailing any longer, but for now, who am I when the legends I learned from are still raking in hundreds of thousands in a month?
It will be senseless of me to leave such hustle that gives me someone's salary in a week.
I dey mad?
Case closed.

Much respect, boss.

Thanks guys for this page full of insights. Objective analysis of issues turn me on. I had to read some submissions twice. I hope we are flexible enough to pick one or two things.

@omoapena I never knew you were this deep. @dapotemi and others, God bless you all.

@Glithronix congratulations on your car. More wins bro.
