Simple answer. For some reason, some people, just because they don't understand it, they discard it. They are on an online forum created by a Nigerian and still believe don't believe it is possible in Nigeria. What irony.

Its working for some and it has not been working for some ..... I know of people who have massively made a lot of money via it. I have made my own little too, via www.finalyearprojeactmadeeasy..com and other online sales platforms.
We just need patience and follow the right path.
Another issue why we still struggle online in Nigeria is because of trust, fraudulent activities have put fear in the mind of people. God will help us.

Yes.

But let me chip in this:

Online shopping is becoming quite popular in Nigeria, due to its relative convenience and the reasonable prices of goods and services available online. In a city like Lagos with an estimated population of 21 million people, the conventional means of shopping, which involves physically visiting stores, can be tedious and time-consuming. The three major shopping malls currently in the city – the Palms Shopping Mall, Ikeja City Mall and Adeniran Ogunsanya Shopping Mall – are frequently filled to capacity during peak shopping hours. In addition, Lagos traffic, difficulties with parking and long queues can create further complications with the traditional shopping process.

Online shopping and e-retail in general is further driven by the Central Bank of Nigeria’s “cashless policy”, which seeks to reduce the use of physical cash and increase the adoption of various electronic portals for financial transactions. According to a recent survey, the local online shopping sector grew from N49.9 to N62.4 billion between 2010 and 2011, and from N62.4 to N78 billion between 2011 and 2012, representing a 25 percent increase in each period.

Online shopping involves the purchase of products and services from a seller, over the Internet. Therefore, the Internet is the channel through
which online shopping takes place. As a result, the growth of the online shopping sector in Nigeria is directly linked to increased access to the Internet. Despite the economic challenges in the country, such as low income per capita and frequent power outages, Internet penetration within the country has shown remarkable growth in the last decade. Rising numbers of Internet-enabled devices and decreasing costs of Internet-enabled mobile phones, along with the desire to connect with loved ones are all drivers for. increased Internet adoption in Nigeria. The consistent surge in the number of Internet users in the country, from 200,000 in the year 2000 (0.06 percent Internet penetration) to 57 million users in 2012 (32.88 percent Internet penetration), has positioned Nigeria as one of the fastest growing Internet consumer markets in sub-Saharan Africa...

Currently in 2015 Q2, Nigeria has internet penetration (% Population) of 51.1 %. This represents 92,699,924 Internet Users as of 30-Jun-2015

If you need Market Research/report on any sector, feel free to send me a personal message...

Thank you...

One of the best and easiest way to make money is online and you don't need to SCAM anyone before making money online. what you need to do is to discover a working system, and do your personal research before investing and probably get a mentor. why many people fail to make money online is lack of adequate information, some don't take actions while some hardly read. for those still strugging to make money online follow this link where i teach people on how to make money with EXPIRED DOMAIN NAMES; www.Nairaland.Com/2540836/what-make-money-online

If you mean selling physical products to Nigerian online, you will make less sale online as alot of Nigerian are scared of giving out their credit card pin online even if payment gateways are integrated in your website, these is because of the high fraud rate in Nigeria except you are a trusted brand like jumia, konga etc but if it is information marketing especially in the make money niche. Their is higher posibilty of earning a decent income from Nigerians. The best way to market a physical product/information marketting online is to target tier one countries since they are becoming lazy to purchase from a physical store and they easily give out their credit card pin if you integrate a trusted payment gateways to your online store.

My online biz is a testimony. It works. Integrity is the key. I do mostly cash on delivery but when customers pay me in advance, I know they are doing that on trust and have to live up to expectations.

I confirm receipt of payment promptly, ship their items same day and follow up with calls till they confirm receipt of the items. Where there's going to be a delay, I let them know in advance.

In addition to selling on my platform, I also partner with major online stores- Jumia and Kaymu especially.

Shop for books. Check my signature.

from a lawyer's angle, online business is real but it appears you need to have first built a good reputation before you can expect someone who came across your name online, to send a brief to you and extends an initial payment to you upfront. Online is really a market place and the quality of the goods u brought to the market determines patronage
