That message is randomly generated by the system. It's a bug but you can check your registration status on MTN by dialling *789#.
No bug here. The old registrregistration was totally cancelled by ncc. All mtn users need to do this new reg if not....

You mtn people should stop apologising and do what is right, for those of us you gave shadow credit - allow us make calls with it- after having to register 3 times*
To view your credit, dial *559*40# and in order to access it,you need to load at least 100 naira airtime

Hello guys....
I've read all your comments and views about MTN Nigeria. The truth is that we Nigerians like problem. What's the big deal in going to an MTN office and re-registering your Sim. For heavens sake this guys (MTN) have begged and apologized for all the troubles they caused you. You think they enjoy doing this. Blame NCC and not them. Yes I understand you've done this same exercise several times (we know), you are not the only one with same issue. We all know what MTN is going through. Rather than come here and say things that are not of any benefit to anyone, squeeze out time and go do you your Sim registration. Can you imagine?

Please. ..how do i port to etisalat. ..am sick and tired of mtn and sim registration issue.

I got same message too, yesterday from MTN!!

After doing the re-registration sometime in September/October this year, despite the fact that I did full registration in 2010 at their Aromire Rd Ikoyi main office...they even gave me a souvenir for registering my sim then.

To say I'm tired of them is an understatement. I've planned to go to the nearest MTN office tomorrow instead of enjoying my much-needed rest during this holiday period.

Etisalat have never asked me to come and re-register my SIM after registering with them when I bought my SIM last year. I think I need to start making my Etisalat line my main primary line, not MTN anymore.

If you are in Ibadan, go to Adamansigba stadium for registration. There are many people MTN agents there and they work fast. I didn't spend up to ten minutes

Shetop... I can't go to re-register. What ever they're going through is as a result of their handiwork not mine... No sentiments in biz

Got same too.
This is quite a pathetic turn around of event..it's best described or captioned as how the huge iroko tree fell! For me, my job takes me around the world...i'm hardly in Nigeria...I used to be a proud mtn fan as I had their line way back as a pioneering customer..All & sundry have this contact and its tied to all my bank accounts...got this message also thrice of which I complied with my few trips into the country...this December got another annoying warning message with the threat of blocking my line which they did eventually ....Right now...really don't care anymore...On my next trip to Nigeria..mid-March 2016 precisely, will just change my major phone contacts esp. for all my bank accounts and throw away the mtn sim card...It's obvious that MTN is now being ran by people with no professional ethics and is a sinking 'Titanic' very sad turn around of events...I'm beginning to enjoy my V-Mobile... roaming seamlessly here in the states...Happy holidays...

I hear you can port/switch to ETISALAT and retain your number. I might explore that option soonest if MTN bars my line. I got the same message, was at their closest office to my house, and behold the crowd outside and inside their office. I had to turn back, can't waste my holiday in an MTN office after re-registering my SIM in September this year.
