Good day guys, am not the moderator but many of you know me. We achieved a lot in the year 2015 and we hope to have a very eventful year 2016 or like my padi prodeegee would say 2015s.
Many of us want improvements, traffic, and more entertaining threads in this section but we can't do it alone so this thread is basically suggestions on how to make pet section on nairaland a better place to relax with a bottle of zoo.

Yeah, If someone can kindly dash me a Caucasian puppy here by 2015/16 its a step in making the Pet section a caring forum. Really love this breed and will hopefully own a pair by mid 2016.

..talking of discussin on other pet escept dogs,this thread wasn't only for dog owners but for all pet owners to discuss on matters relating to their pet..but from what i've seen and notice...dog owners are much bigger than and any other pet owners (eg:cat owners, birds etc)...

The popular guys just want to remain popular by hurding knowledge.

and lastly what I've noticed and quite ''annoying'' is how people discriminate other people's Pet and Call people scam without appropriate investigation.

Education is a continuous process and you can only know if you let yourself do.
We have evolved from the stage where people dint ask for parents pic to where we are now,. Now let's evolve from asking for parents pic to knowing why we actually want a dog. Do we want a dog for pet sake, breeding, security, companionship? Things like this helps a true breeder select a pup for you that would suite ur specifications and lifestyle.
That's when you see sm people asking if they should cook igbo for their dog to make them aggressive while in the first instance am sure enough research was put into the temperament of that pup and perhaps the breeder just wanted to make sales.
So i implore everyone that loves dogs in general and wants to own one, pls know why you are getting a dog. Help genuine breeders help you.

All i want in 2016 in the pet section is a section for every pet.just like the romance room where we have the dating section,romance and sexuality

im a cat lover and every time i open the pet section to look for cat thread,the dog threads are so many that i leave the room out of frustration

1. My little contribution, is first we need an active moderator on this section, sometimes, some people try their best to create nice thread that should able to hit frontpage, but not moderator to do that, sorry to say, sometimes prodeegee have to send mails to the moderator on this section to move a thread to frontpage, which is not suppose to be.

1. We need to advertise ourselfs, we can call it market or sell ourselfs to frontpage people, how can we achieve that, let open reasonable threads that would hit frontpage, by so doing we are generating traffic to this section.

3. Unresolved, biased, hate that would cause argument on this section should be ignore, yes most people will want to show seniority, life is about learning new things, let always accept peoples opinion, and please for the argumentators, we shouldn't always make simple issue an argument.

4. The association of breeders that mate different with breeds to get a pup, we should please find away to curb tham on nairaland. We should not allow the to use nairaland as a dumping ground.

5. I will also please beg seun if he can also create a sub-section for other animals (pet) as somebody just said.

I had a thread set up for just rottie fans, creating one for cat lovers wld b awesome too. Where u can discuss all breeds of cat challenges each cat owner has faced and how to of course build a better animal community as a whole. it's not all about dogs and you can be the voice to speak into the mic.

nice idea but what i suggested is creating a sub section for pets like dog,bird,cat,rabbit,rat etc so that enable can have easy access to their pet thread

How to make this section better lies solely on one thing . sharing information, mature post and respecting other peoples opinion .
Because u don't agree with someones opinion doesn't give you the right to abuse them.
People should stop attacking other peoples pet. If someone has a GSD and he says its a Caucasian so far he isn't trying to sell, the only thing we can do is explain and provide proof instead of abusing the person .

And for the likes of the people that only sell , advertise and never contribute , life isn't only about making money, for example I wouldn't trust anyone taht doesn't contribute here cos if u buy a dog from such folk and the dog got sick the person might not just have your time . so I think when everyone acts matured this section will soar high again

First and foremost I want to appreciate everyone who has contributed in one way or the other to the pet section. I am a new person and really do not have much experience about dogs, though I have kept a couple since my childhood days. Lately, shortly before I joined nairaland, I started a research on dog breeding and found out so much on dog breeders forums online. What we have here is commendable and we could help this grow to international standards. I truly believe we should have different sections and sub section for breeders, pet lovers, newbies in dog breedings, veterinary matters, information on feeding, responsible breeding marketing ask an expert and so much more. I will also suggest, with all due respect to the developers if we could possibly improve on the design of the forum.

The sub section is a lovely idea but due to the fact that we have a passive moderator we have to improvise
Regarding the animal community I would have said dog community but no b okay dogs b pet as people have all sorts of animals pets

for the animal community,if we eventually have an active mod and the sections are created.each pet group should be able to sort that out

the dog community thing can carry on,this way,others can learn and know what to do when they finally decide to create their pet community
