Hello Nairalanders, if you adore and cherish your people's way of life, do not feel shy to write about it here. I know that remarkable cultural traits can be found in your native areas. Mbano people, where are you with Anara day, Mbaise;oji Ezinihitte, Arondizuogu-Ikeji, Onitsha-Ofala etc.
If you are a son of the soil and proud of your people, comment a little here about them.

That's interesting! I love traveling around Nigeria. I haven't been to your place but I have been to Okigwe for a wedding. I absolutely loved it. I'm probably going

to explore the Igbo land more when I return to Nigeria. So far I have been to Onitsha, Okigwe, Ogidi, Nnewi, Ihie, some other parts of Abia, Enugu and Asaba.

Maybe you should make a wikipedia page for Etiti.
Re: What Are Your People (Ethnicity) Known For? by AndreUweh(m): 10:54pm On Jun 28, 2009
Etiti is in Okigwe zone Imo state. In Etiti, two dialects of Igbo language are spoken namely Isu-spoken by Uboma clan and Obowu spoken by Obowu and Ihitte. The Isu dialect is similar to Okigwe dialect while Obowu is similar to Mbaise dialect. That may explain our ancestry but work is going on in that field.
Our foremost secondary schools are Community secondary school Onicha Uboma established 1960, community secondary school Ikenanzizi established 1962 and Madonna boys high school Isinweke established 1955 now Imo senior secondary science school.
Is there any person from Etiti in the house. What about other Nigerian peoples?.

Etiti has a very long history of Inter community football competitions. Most trophies been contested in Etiti were donated by E.D.S Anyanwu, Eze Ovuike, Chief Francis Anamekwe, Chief L.O Agu, Chief Nwaoku etc.
Later successive chairmen became the donors.
But recently wealthy individuals such as Jude Ofoegbu etc have become donors as well.
Umuowusuoshie-Obowu swept almost everything in the early 1980's, followed by Zebra f.c of Umuezegwu, and later Sprinters of Umuihi.
In the early 1990's, Wipers of Amainyi ruled the town and later topled by Umuihi.
Now, there is no clear winners in Ihitte Uboma. It has been rotated between Umuihi x3, Amakohia x2, Umuderim x1 and Ikperejere x1.

I am from AWKA

My ppl are blacksmithers, we produce guns, matchets, swords and war weapons, cooling utensils, jewelries, farm tools etc

Awka ppl are known to welcome guests, Amawbia (Ama-obia)- place for the visitors, is a small town neighbouring that sprout from Awka's generosity.

We celebrate '' EGWU IMOKA'' once a year, its a carnival-like festival Awka ppl celebrate to mark their heroic-war victories against neighbouring towns that tried attacking Awka on numerous occassions, but was foiled by Awka monkeys (Enwe Awka) which revealed the imminent war to Awka ppl, Hence Awka considers killing monkeys a sacrilege.

Awka has a nice geographical topology and is the home to most of the institutions in Anambra state, eg Nnamdi azikiwe University, St Paul university college, Anambra broadcasting service ABS, many hotels etc

Awka is blessed with a lot of human resources which includes, HRH Dr Gibson Nwosu (Eze-uzu 11), the traditional ruler and a retired Airforce officer, late prof kenneth Dike (the first nigerian vice chancellor @ UI), Barrister Amanke okafor, a renowned lawyer, writer and philanthropist, Chief Austin ndigwe (Uzu-Awka), Dr Ndi Obi, one time senator and former vice presidential aspirant to Atiku, Hon Anayo Nnebe, the speaker of Anambra state house of Assembly etc

Awka ppl speaks in funny igbo dialect
Central igbo Awka dialect
Ebe a (Here) ikaa
ebe afu (there) nevu
mba (no) waa
isi (head) ishi
etc

I love my ppl bc we are hardworking and united when it comes to Awka matter!
