Should Prostitution Be Legalised In Nigeria? by Deesick7(m): 7:14am On Mar 21, 2016
In my humble opinion, prostitution should be a legal business in our society. Although, it's not legal sef, ppl still patronise prostitutes covertly. It's d trade of sex n it's been described by many as d world's oldest trade. Legalising it will improve the country's tax returns, reduce or totally eliminate the need for trafficking, and will also keep ppl healthy for consenting adults who want to engage in the act. Not dat I've ever patronised prostitutes, Lord knows I dnt need to, but as a free spirit I think it should be a legal business. D social benefits r surprisingly plentiful. Wat do u think?

Well in a country where corruption is legal, prostitution shouldn't be criticized.

Yes. Because legal or illegal, they've come to stay and enjoy huge patronage. I mean look at the beer parlour thread in the sexuality section. If it is legalised, they can be taxed, get thorough health screening, etc

No one is being forced. In fact it's almost like it's legal already in dis country. U can choose whether or not to patronise lol any other business venture. Marriages already destroy themselves and I dnt see how legalising prostitution promotes discipline. Perhaps you can elaborate. As regards health issues, ppl already have health problems. It's part of the banes of human existence, besides derez condom. Wives give their husbands HIV almost everyday in world. So with all due respect, I don't think ur points are valid. Africans r too self righteous and pretentious. Dats our problem.

It's is no more than a business transaction a service/services should be paid for in full. It should be made legal, but if so they (prostitutes) should be made to pay taxes.

Things dat ain't legal appear legal in dis country. I don tire. Smoking in public in lagos for example is illegal but ppl do it indiscriminately even police sef. Piracy... I dnt need to talk much. Don movies and person entertainment leave their emails and phone numbers on the media they pirate n they ain't in jail yet. Dis country......

The only thing illegal about prostitution in Nigeria is that they don't pay tax....

Govt should review that stands in generating revenue...

Nobody said prostitution is right, rather the moral pondering is left to the individuals. The legalization will be on the basis of health and safety, reduce crime rates surrounding prostitution. The government through taxation and regulation, controls prostitution. Which is better than leaving a wild unregulated highly patronized crime.
Re: Should Prostitution Be Legalised In Nigeria? by chigoizie7(m): 1:44pm On Mar 21, 2016
Yes, u make it illegal?

People still patronise them anyways.

So, make it legal, collect tax from them and boost the revenue.

The d customers go suffer am, but when they see no customer coming up because of high price, dey will be forced to reduce it.

if they are being forced, that is a problem.

There are a lot of anti-rape organizations springing up everywhere and a lot of people do not know the reason for this. If it is linked to prostitution then its only a matter of time before the truth comes out.

just saying!
