@skydancer
xsay problem is a simple 1. those files are system files and can not be deleted.
Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by deji2009(m): 9:17pm On Oct 01, 2009
Those file showing are not virus. there are music album information which sometime display the picture of the artist while playin de song. they are suppose to be hidden files but your hidden files are enable.
if u delete them those album picture will disappear.

but u can aswell disable hidden folder by selecting folder's option and select hidden.
will check and the picture later and display it for u

I agree with you ,so poster try and follow his instruction if you dont know how to hide files let us know

Good luck

If am getting the message right, xsay's problem is that hidden files are marked X on his system. Or is it he that manually drew it? Like Deji did? Coz he is claiming he is not doing it himself. And you can't say the default icons for the hidden files was changed because the marks are not the same. That's why I suspect it's a malware. Anyway if xsay doesn't reply, I'll knos its one of the usual brews. I just hope my message does not get deleted this time

Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by zenus(m): 10:31am On Oct 02, 2009
In your document folder. u see 'ntuser.dat'
I would suggest that you leave any NTUSER.DAT files alone. NTUSER.DAT files
are absolutely essential.

NTUser.dat contains all your user settings, desktop customizations, etc. Consequently Windows will hold the file open all the time you're logged in

NTUSER.DAT files are the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive for the registry.

One NTUSER.DAT for each user on the machine, some templates and repair.
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User
C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService
C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name Here\NTUSER.DAT
C:\WINDOWS\repair
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\systemprofi…

from what i know about malware, malware also use the ntuser, these are known as  malware camouflage and it has an extension of exe. e.g ntuser.exe. If the are in your system, particularly they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder.

I'm a learner, if am wrong pls use the right word and correct me but not this way

That should have done it instead of loosing your programs. My system is showing both system and hidden files and is not a virus though I don;t know where the mark is from undecided

You may be talking about a particular malware that infected your system. Anyway, such types of malware are called trojans. They camouflage as system files when they are not really system files. There are several kinds of malwares and I keep telling people that permanent protection against malware is far from using antiviruses. Anyway, am working on a tool for diagnosing and removing viruses right now and hardly have time for crazy stuff like this( stupid marks that look as if they were marked by someone). Why would someone be playing that kind of prank in a serious forum.

Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by jonescosmo(m): 6:40pm On Oct 07, 2009
cool It means ur processor is overheating due to low fan speed or cpu fan not operational but if u are sure that ur system's fans are ok, try checking ur charger and battery because the cpu consumes more power when the system is being reformatted thats why it is always advised to plug ur AC adapter b4 performing OS setup. cool

For your Battery Go to Karvex Computers call the owner Mr Kazeem 08033033957 on Otigba Street computer village and for charger call Mr Bonny 08034863772 tell mr bonny that his friend Cosmos Lenovo sent you and for your DVD Drive call Chika 08032310043 tell chika that the brother Jones sent you. They could give you better price when you tell them who sent you. Take your laptop along so that you can test all these item before paying. grin
Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by 4llerbe(m): 12:15am On Oct 09, 2009
see this is why i like life and its circles. that Karvex chap sold me a laptop like 2007, went with a friend to but it for the guy's lawschool programme, the laptop was one hp, the flat black type.

first the laptop was china clone, but we muguns paid for the original price,

the laptop did not have its accessories complete. apparently the package had been opened, and stuff removed,

the only thing inside was the charger. there was no backup cd/dvd for the os and drivers.

when we booted it, there was no recovery partition!! and could you believe that after 3 days whenever you put on the laptop and should you forget your limitations and run 3 programs at the same time no matter how light, the hard drive freezes and the laptop will not respond for like 30 mins no matter what u do. u can only remove the battery.

now we bought the laptop because we were cleverly hoodwinked. we got ther around 3pm. when we wanted to buy, we were shown various laptop in packs displayed on the shelves, we bargained for one and my guy that wanted the thing was too eager that he was just misbehaving. when i demanded for physical inspection the guy then tod us that they would have to go bring the laptop from somewhere as the ones in the shops were empty packs. he then demanded some of the money in order to ensure we would buy. we gave hm half, he pocketed it and disappeared telling his boys to go bring the laptop.

we waited for 3 hours and could you believe they were telling us they wanted to close as they had to close in comp villa at 6. eventually boy turned up and then manoevered us into rushing from the shop. i refused and wanted to inspect on the spot. when i noticed some things i said we was not buying again and they told us our cash was gone!!!!!!

my foolish friend decided to avoid a scene and gave them the balance of which the boys were even demanding something.

upon closer inspection at home well, story no good.

so i guess KARVEX AINT THE PLACE TO GO O!!! WARNING TO YOU ALL
