just sent emails and read news
by wednesday morning,they said my data was exhausted.i was so mad i called customer care and cursed dia lives out
airtel na babanla data zapper
same with glo

i don port go etisalat and so far dia data consumption is normal

to guys using smile,spectranet,etc,just tell d person allocating the data to you,to reduce the speed of charges maybe to 40kb per sec,

there is nothing we can do,than to keep cheating them,when dia is no constant lite,no fuel,i pray make dem no zap data quick o

or make una do bb 1500 glo,dah one na normal e no dey sap data

ive used all the gigs and na only etisalat dey reasonable pass

Not quite true that the portal is unreliable. You got your calculation wrong. In fact, both the portal and SMS results are the same. Let me show you:

1 GB of data is actually 1,024mb.

Since you bought 1.5Gb, multiply 1,024 by 1.5, you would get 1,536mb, ok?

Now deduct what the SMS said you had left, 791mb, from 1,536mb:

1,536mb - 791mb = 745mb, which is the volume shown as used in the portal.

The portal showed you what you have used, the SMS showed you what you have left.

744.3mb + 791mb = 1,535.3mb or 1.5Gb (approximately)

When you download a 100MB file at night it will deduct same but during the day it would deduct it in excess (lets say X3 to give 300MB) to compensate for the relative stiffer competition from the voice callers who pay more for same bandwidth.

I beg to disagree. What you just posited here is fraud, shikena. When you're not using PAYG, there is no reason to have this at all. Moreover, this is not stated in any T&Cs. If the GSM providers do this, it's because there are poor regulations dazall. So when you say folks are ignorant, that's an insult to the consumers.

A lot of people here keep talking about background data like some of us don't know how to control running apps et al.

I thought I was the only one I used to do 2500 like twice a month. now I hv resulted to 1k yet still the same fast depletion. Glo is a scam and yes, those Customer Service attendant are well-trained on technical issues.
