I knew this might happen immediately the Marketers start creating scarcity, before the subsidy removal.

The government of the day seems not to understand the dynamics of the Nigerian economy .

They dont know anything even the prof among them.

And their predecessors they should call and learn from have all been tagged corrupt..

This govt is 10% out of 100% in efficiency. Yet their party members like tinubu are dancing along. Tinubu castigated kachikwu initially but later he joined the band wagon of people blaming jonathan for scarcity of fuel

What malarkey is this? After we have accepted the removal of subsidy(despite our suffering) as the way forward, this marketers are reneging on their agreement with the FG? It seems they are ok with our perpetual suffering. I don't blame them. If our leaders had put the right infrastructures in place, I don't think this would be happening. it's left for the present government to learn and do the right thing.

you have said it all.

the only solution is working refineries. Simple

all these removal of subsidy will not work (subsidy has not been removed according to our vp). The increase in fuel is only due to increase in dollar rate. Subsidy is still there oooooo

Even with refineries, without subsidy price of fuel will be high or unavailable. No refinery will want to sell fuel below international rate. They would rather export it to neighbouring countries to make more profit

Government should introduce autonomous trading of dollar by calling back bureau de change into the system. They should also pump in more dollar into the market with these funds they have recovered.

the marketers can never survive without subsidy, that's what has been keeping them in business for so long which also makes them credit worthy to banks, now that subsidy is gone, most of them will wind up soon. Only the major marketers can survive post subsidy regime.

Most Nigerians don't understand this. The only solution to the fuel crisis, is working refineries period.

But you read that the Q4 2015 subsidy was recently paid ie almost 8months of debt on the marketer, don't you think he would have preferred getting his money on delivery?
A better explanation is that secondary market doesn't even have enough, ask any BDC for $1m, they will start calling all the geopolitical zones in Nigeria let alone marketers who trade in hundreds of millions.

That is the disadvantage of electing narrow-minded people into governance.

These people dont understand the Nigeria is bigger than their little kitchen cabinet.

FG are so daft.

1st u calculated @ d template of 300/$ to arrive @ N145. Good.

2nd, u allowed the value of naira to dollar to be determined by the market when u really don't have enough dollars to go around. In this case, the demand outweighs the supply, automatically, the price will increase which means, if it increases and the marketers are able to get fx finally @ above 300/$ will they still sell @ N145?

FG make una ask una selves that question.no business man will want to be @ lose here.

I don't think the 145 naira peg is for the marketers, the minister has clarified that, 145 is NNPC's peg, because the minister is using the DSDP programme as NNPC's import quota, with low crude price, the landing cost of NNPC's supply is way below 145, however to avoid long queue in big cities, NNPC intend to sell same price with the marketers which will become a revenue earner for the FG.
same way we earned over recovery at the beginning of the year.

The refinery that worked early this year, Avengers have bombed its feedstock lines, shouldn't you be dealing with avengers first before building new refineries?

Every other plan is just short term fix...By the way, most Nigerians do but the ones crying the loudest can't be seen to agree with that point cos it will lead to the question they dread the most; "why are refineries not working" or why didn't one of the over 20 licenses issued for private refineries come on stream....

They won't have response and they can't add zombie, dullard to that argument.. cheesy

Full deregulation is the solution to all these rubbish.
Import and sell at whatever amount pleases you.

Must we import? Can't the govt allow private refinery to be build in these country. Some state and men in this country can build it without the FG assistance.
