Yeah, I have regrets.

I have lost very good friends. Friends that are closer than brothers.

I have a friend in India who is a missionary (I should have been a missionary too). He sent a message to me sometime ago pained that I had forsaken the church, the brethren and the vision.

I have gifts I can't use anymore. The potential of what I could have achieved with my gifts was unimaginable.

I miss winning souls and nurturing converts. I miss all my converts. So fond of them and how they love me too. I don't want any of them to become atheists as christianity gives hope albeit false but hope is a thing of the mind, it does not have to be real.

I miss being able to pray for people so as to strengthen them

I miss singing heavenly songs that makes you believe and look forward to a better world God had promised mankind.

There is a lot to miss.

But I remain an atheist and would die an atheist. I wish I was never a christian. Cos my whole life had been built to please an heavenly father and fellowship and impact this God to people. But reality is what it is, it's either I pretend all these are true; the bible, god, jesus, holy spirit etc or I be honest with my discoveries.

I will keep promoting common sense above spiritual sensationalism.

If you are convinced you are at peace and happy, so be it. Peace and happiness is everything.

Did I waste my years as a christian?
Absolutely not.
I made my mark.

Now I am starting over building a vision to still make a global impact. Would have been fantastic if I had been an atheist much more earlier in life before I build my life so much arnd missionary work

It's hard to break away from what you've built almost all your life on. I realized that our beginnings have a large impact in our lives. It is very scary to change all your beliefs over night. Think again and experience the love of God. If atheism cuts you off from people and life, then you better discard it. Enjoying our lives is dependent of how we relate and contact other living humans. This contact is very important in generating the life force. Anything that shortens it, shortens life.

If you are an atheist but still waste your time pretending to be a christian or muslim or what ever, please cut it now! fully embrace your intellectual liberation and be yourself! The church would only waste your time, limit your scope, shape the friends and company you have and at the end You would have limited yourself cos you were trying to blend in.

You are absolutely right about the impact of or formative years.

I can NEVER be a religious person again, not even going back to the christian faith. It is founded on lies and fabrication of men.

In some years time I would be well established in the new life I am building. So not complaining. Only making my experience available to others

the bible is the creation of the imagination of men. So what psalm 1 or any part of the bible says shld be taken with this understanding. You read the bible, pick up what is useful to you, and dump the remaining thrash. Nothing special.

Read what you just wrote and think deeply.
Who told you god is a jealous god?
Who told you where I will be when I die.
There is overwhelming testimonies about reincarnation which are even more profound and tested than of heaven and hell. So who is right?
You must think Jehovah is the only god people worship. Expand your scope. Life is bigger than what you are told in the church or by a concocted book

I've been in your shoes once. I questioned church and the whole idea of religion at all. I found out later that I was really fed up with religion and was deeply craving something more. From my search for truth, I figured the bible is truth. even when many churches preach religion, the bible simply explains God's unconditional love to me, and in that I find peace and happiness. Nothing else could satisfy that longing, even when I tried to indulge in every other thing that seemed pleasurable to me. Nothing gives complete peace as knowing you are loved by God . If You've found peace in something lesser (in your case, your superior intellect) then continue in it.

first peter 2:21-22 say :
…20If indeed they have escaped the corruption of the world through their knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, only to be entangled and overcome by it again, their final condition is worse than it was at first. 21It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than to have known it and turned away from the holy commandment passed on to them. 22Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud.”…

Well You were once a christian..you are aware of the hope of every Christian, that is "to get eternal life"... As a human being,it is not just our flesh that makes us who we are..we are made of a soul, spirit and body... Yes every dead person flesh decays when he\she dies...Whether Atheist or not...but as Christians we hope for something after death... According to your answer after death there's nothing else for you, everything goes into the ground and ends forever?

We cannot just be creating things without evidence. How can you claim we are made of body spirit and soul.
where was the spirit isolated and quantified? Where was the soul isolated and quantified.

Think.

Op, dont mind them, they wont understand. Recently i did a recap of my life out of religion. I surely miss a lot of things but i have achieved more than all the years i have wasted in Christainity. I dont give a damn about what anyone thinks about me. I am more concerned about what I think about myself. Infact, everyday, i am more convinced in dumping religion. There is nothing sosoothing as freedom but like someone said here on nairaland " it is only a man that cant handle his freedom that needs religion".

Yours-Out-of-Christ
