The problem in Nigeria is economic hardship. Our leaders are making life miserable for people and also making people to believe that is God that will do everything for them. Due to this simple reason, all these so called men of God are now using the opportunity to deceive poor masses. Huh, may the lord help us

@banom,

i doubt u r an atheist, cos u seem to knw the difference between true christianity and the one you call 'Nigerian christianity'. u r just aggrieved by certain people in christendom who wrongly interpret the Bible, giving unbalanced msgs. I agree with the second poster on this thread about people itching to hear a particular kind of message, which is often the wrong one.

there are many true christians out there. the devil know the good influence this faith can have in the world, hence using greedy/crafty individuals to attract gullible individuals. most nigerians today are lazy and see prosperity-christianity as a quick-fix way of getting rich, forgetting that the most important reason why Christ came was to save all souls. God does bless, and God sure blesses seed offering but we must understand the context in which such is done.
Re: Nigerian Pastors Are Shameless by TYPOP(m): 8:08pm On Oct 04, 2009
If you understand that your giving should be directed by God from your 'willing' heart then you know when you give the God kind of way, there is a reward. But when you are cajoled into giving without your spirit urging you to do so, you have just lost your money at the gambling table.

God loves a cheerful giver.
Re: Nigerian Pastors Are Shameless by mikkyray: 8:33pm On Oct 04, 2009
Its amazes me sometimes when some people talk of deep ignorance and still be boastful about it
Is it what the pastor says alone or what your read yourself in the Bible?
I give tithe no because a Pastor said, but the revelation i caught, see CHRISTIANITY IS NOT A RELIGION!!!!,  Religion try to reach out to God, Christianity: God reaching out to Humanity, you need revelation. The Pastor collecting money for his own purpose is wrong, the people giving for material gain is wrong too, the fact that some people are not getting blessed from their giving doesn't mean people are not getting bless through giving, its a universal law, GIVING IS THE BEST WAY OUT OF LACK, SEED AND HARVEST TIME WILL NEVER CEASE.
If you want to succeed a christian then you must be under the full control of God's Spirit, the HOLY SPIRIT, that's what will differentiate what is "goodly" from what is":Godly"  The thing is that we are so lazy sometime to dig deep ourselves and let God reveal himself to us.
Let it be noted that this is just the beginning of fake pastors, many of them will still come with outstanding miracle, take this time to prepare yourself, THE END IS NEAR
We should be careful not to become mouthpiece for devil

Have you wonder why so many thing are going wrong in the Christendom? Why is it that Christianity is the most persecuted faith?

The Devil is fighting hard so that you and I would be discourage and lost hope.

Finally, know that, GOD EXIT

Good topic, i will like u to know that giving is part of christianityand that it is never by force but voluntary pls A Godless man can't understand the things, the ways and working of God. I pray that the God of heaven will have mercy on you 4 this general statement because there are pastors in Nigeria who fear Jehovah and still fight 4 them

elijah directed his prophecy and request to just one widow who could verify later whether he was real or fake by the reults accomplished.
the pharisees fake 9ja pastors promise miracles to 10s, 100s, 1000s etc knowing at least one mugu will come and report that God was good and gave him a breakthrough (a position to steal/chop/inflate contracts etc) that has nothing to do with Christ's life and teachings shocked Not minding that his breakthrough creates conditions for millions to continue wallowing in poverty without infrastructures, including hospitals to test bogus healing miracles, thus making the pastor's flock even grow more.
Vicious cycle of poverty and religion like in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia and Europe of the Dark Ages (when church was state/government.

How are you? You've been missing on the forum for a while hope all is well with you and yours. Just to let you know that the battle against the false doctrine of tithes is being sustained on the forum and as reached a new high as more and more people are coming to the knowledge of truth about this greedy, oppressive man made doctrine.

Boycott your churches. Snub your synagogues. Ignore your mosques. Until those preachers come out foursquare for peace and justice, refuse to accept their pitiful propaganda. ,
Besides, that's not God who resides in most houses of worship anyway. It's Moloch! It's Baal. It's Marduk. It's definitely Mammon. The Evil One, posing as your deity, teaching you how to pretend to be good rather than actually teaching you how to be good. open your third eye

The only thing God really cares about is how you treat others.
Re: Nigerian Pastors Are Shameless by bidemi12(m): 12:11pm On Oct 05, 2009
@Mbeki You seem to know a lot about the devil, please tell us more. At least if you do not believe in God you should be able to believe in the devil.

@bidem12
So because I don't believe in the false twisted and criminally inspired man made doctrine practised in some churches today in the name of tithes I am now an atheist? Does the tithing practised today have any semblance with the obsolete one instructed in the bible? You make me laugh in spiritual tongues.
Re: Nigerian Pastors Are Shameless by bidemi12(m): 12:35pm On Oct 05, 2009
@kunleoshob God gave you free will to do whatever you like, but he did not tell you to interprete the bible to suit your own design. You cannot say you believe in the God and the bible and decide to follow some of it's principles. Because i am a sinner does not mean i do not know what is right.
Re: Nigerian Pastors Are Shameless by Nezan(m): 12:53pm On Oct 05, 2009
Your pastor will not be by heaven's gate on that day, put your trust on God and His son, Jesus Christ.
Re: Nigerian Pastors Are Shameless by infoweb(m): 1:11pm On Oct 05, 2009
Hello banom and his likes!

If one seek to know, get & rely on the truth, he/she will achieve same.  Many wolves dress in sheep clothings to make merchandise of people and they suceed in such just because the people gave heed to such since they fail to understand and take heed to the instruction/truth of God's word as regards issues of such nature. This does not means that all Pastors are the same.

There are several Ministers of God holding the truth in righteousness.

Seek for where the truth is being diseminated and you will stand up for God. One funny thing is that majority do not like becoming member to such true churches just because their evil imaginations will be unveiled by God's Spirit.
You need to make up your mind to seek God.

GOD'S FOUNDATION STANDS FIRM; THE LORD KNOWS THOSE WHO ARE HIS.

NOT EVERY CHURCH BUILDING HAS CHRISTAINS IN EM; JESUS CHRIST IS MY STANDARD AND I'L NEVA EVA EVA THINK OF CHOOSING ANY ODA RELIGION BECAUSE JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY, TRUTH AND THE LIFE. THERE IS NO WAY TO THE FATHER BUT THROUGH HIM.
Re: Nigerian Pastors Are Shameless by pastorjose: 3:21pm On Oct 05, 2009
You don't need to criticize the men of God, you are an atheist who talks and live as if their is no God. working for the growth of God's work with your funds is not what really matters but how you've learn to manage your faith in God through christ Jesus. If you would turn away from the truth because of any pastor it really means you do not have the love of God in you and you also hate your soul for when the judgement comes upon you what will be your excuse. the pastor is not enough excuse to escape the righteous judgement of God.

Thanks Guys!!!I have been thinking about this for so long!!

Two sundays ago my hubby and I went to church. Our Pastor introduced a guest minister who was to preach the sermon. The guy titled his sermon 'ministering to your pastor'.
He went on and on about blessing your pastor materially, told us how his church memebrs bought him a car bla bla. Hw even said their was a guy that he prayed for and God blessed and on his birthday the guy gave him a card, he said he rejected the card because he knows how much the guy earns. He tried to dilute the sermon with encourage your pastor, call your pastor, pray for your pastor etc but any wise person will know that the whole idea is to give material things to your pastor.

I was shocked, has it reached the point that Nigerian pastors are not even ashamed to climb the pulpit and talk about giving them money??

My hubby and I had a serious arguement about it 2 days later. He feels I should not judge the man.
I am an anglican and when I see Pentecostal Pastors, I just marvel at the way they have turned the bible upside down. This pastor had biblical verses to back up his claim.

They no longer preach about salvation of your soul or moving closer to GOD!! all we hear in church now is financial breakthrough! we really need help

I have decided that my money will go to Charities and people in need of surgeries, help etc. I will give offerings in church o, but my tithe is meant for charity purposes now!

Nigerians are the smartest people on earth!! They make money from every opportunity!

Have you guys heard of PROPHETIC CROSSOVER?

This is a yearly event in a local CPM church in Ajegunle and takes place on new year eve. The pastor requests the congregation to sow enough seeds and he will decree as follows:

By the dawn of the new year, all those living in 1 room will move to 2 rooms in Jesus name
All those living in 2 rooms will move to mini flats
Those living in mini flats will move to 2-bedroom flats while those in 2-bedroom will move to 3-bedroom and 3-bedroom folks will move to duplex in Jesus name.

The church responds with the loudes AMEN.

By the next year December 31st, the PROPHETIC CROSSOVER comes again and the pastor reassures them again that God will still do it. If the congregation had moved to duplexes as expected, then the church will be half-empty cos they would all have moved out of Ajegunle. But the church is always full with the same folks who are willing to sow again for the failed move.

What's happening in the new generation churches are a mere reflection of the failure of the Nigerian state. Nigerians are looking for quick and easy money, 419 comes in different ways. Everything is exploited. I'm sure those pastors aint christians. The only people getting the blessings of the church are the pastors thems. I think the effect is that when you see how blessed the pastor is, you tend to believe he can bless you.
