THE END OF AN ERA:
"In Africa, when an elder dies, it's as if an entire library is burnt" Amadou Hampate Ba.
His Royal Highness the late Lamdo Gashaka Alhaji Hammangabdo Muhammadu Sambo OON reigned for 51 years; from 1965 to 2016. His reign covered all 15 of Nigeria's post independence heads of state and governments, from Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa to President Muhammadu Buhari.
HRH had also reigned through all governors of Northern Nigeria, North East, Gongola to Taraba state; from Sir Kashim Ibrahim, General Hassan Katsina, Brigadier Musa Usman, Lt. Col. Muhammadu Buhari, Lt. Col. M. D. Jega, Abubakar Barde, Jolly Nyame to Darius Ishaku. He started as a young ungraded chief in 1965 walking Gashaka to a first class chiefdom and an elder statesman, if not the eldest in Taraba state.
When he died yesterday, he was the last of the generation of chiefs and emirs appointed by the father of Northern Nigeria; the great Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardaunan Sokoto and he is the last of the members of the Northern House of Chiefs; then presided over by the revered Sultan of Sokoto; Late Sir Abubakar Garba na Uku.
HRH Hammangabdo Muhammadu Sambo was walking encyclopedia, a reservoir of history, a great father, a great teacher, full of wisdom and humour. Any time you met him you will wish he keeps going on and on with those witty jokes and historical lessons. You never get tired of being at his great presence. He will be surely missed by all of us.
My condolences to his two children who were my school mates; the Chiroman Gashaka and Sauraniyar Gashaka, and their siblings Yerima Sanda, Yerima Nuhu Hammangabdo; our Uncle Justice Isa Sambo, (also my school mate at the Nigeria Law School, Lagos), his bossom friend Alkali Adamu Laido, the father of my brother Ahmad Laido, and all of us. We are all members of one big family and this is our loss.
May Allah grant him aljannah firdausi. In kuma ta mu ta zo, Allah ya sa mu cika da imani. Allah yaafu Lamdo Gashaka. Ameena.

A friend of the Family posted this tribute.

Seun kindly do the needful as a respect to the Lamido of Gashaka who is also called the Prince of Peace.

RIP to His Highness!!!
NCAN........................was he a Fulani or another imposed Muslim Convert on Christian communities as was the case with Ahmadu Bello in those days??
Tiv rejected their impostor
Igala accepted their impostor
Kafanchan is still battling with that legacy ....
All over the North.....Ahmadu Bello developed and employed to juicy positions those communities who warmly accepted his Emirs and gave mostly teaching Jobs to those communities that reject his offers!!
Any old man around to disprove this story from our elders?

Lol No He was Not. His great great grand father was the founder of Serti (Later called Gashaka) around 1780 or 90 then his great grand father became Lamido (later corrupted to Emir) around 1830 and his Grand father from 1840-82 and his father became the Lamido and died in 1965. The Late Lamido succeeded the his father in 1965. see he was never imposed they build that Kingdom and its one of the few that predate the Jihad of 1804 (Astangfirullah if i am not correct).

Kafanchan was Imposed I disagree with the other places you mentioned.
