David Foster Wallace writes so beautifully, is so show-offishly smart and understands the intricacies of human emotion so keenly that a reasonable person can only hope he is terribly unhappy. Which, if this collection of short stories is any indication, he is.

Best book in a long time.

So I went to the book store yesterday and saw the book. I was still contemplating on whether or not to get it (e cost small ) until I flipped the pages and read the following:

"I was an enormous child. My mother said I made her back curve like a cat's tail. . . . . . "
"I never knew my father. My mother said: your father left me for a beautiful woman. I told him I was pregnant and he didn't want to hear it. He sliced me like an okra and left. He pursued another woman's hole and died inside it."

That surely won me over. I have started reading.

The Hideaway by Dean Koontz.

Good? He's a hit and miss for me. I read one i absolutely adored (Dark rivers of the heart) and then the next one i read i found craptacular.

This is my first Dean Koontz novel; I stumbled across it by chance and just started reading it. So far it’s holding up to the 50 page rule – if after 50 pages and I’m not captivated then I’m dumping it.

^^^ its a good read (if thriller is your thing). not one of my favourites though. if you want to fall for his works, read titles like [b]watchers, false memor[/b]y, dragon tears, phantoms etc. stay away from titles like coldfire, the mask, winter moon etc.

Hollywood wives- the new generation by Jackie Collins. one word to describe it- craptastic!!! this is the first and last of her book i will prolly read. very irritating .
