I travelled recently to a place where I needed some rest due to the fact that my friend whom I want to pass the night at his place was still at work. When I first entered the hotel, the attendant was asking me if I'm lodging or I want accomodation? It was then I was confused, I told him that, I only needed a place to rest till evening, he then said ''short rest''. For hoteliers in the house, which one is lodging and which one is accomodation. It was after that incident I began to be looking at hotels/guests house sign posts to know which one stands for lodging and which one stands for accomodation. Lets educate ourselves because nobody knows it all. |

From research I think the difference is more of the duration of stay: Lodging tends to last longer, from days to weeks or even months while accommodation usually refers to a temporary/shorter stay. So far so gud, the topic is still in contention since they are synonymous and interchangeably used. No concrete explanation yet. |
