Agbor is not part of benin, historically Agbor fought Benin to stand still and Benin was forced to have a treaty... Benin was so afriad of Agbor that they built a most around their city... The moats are still there till date

So how can Agbor be part of benin yet they are building a most ....

The moats were built during oguola time... 100 years before the Empire was built...
. Besides there is no account of agbor fighting Benin and forcing a treaty..

If u have the account, show us

Igwe festival is a festival to celebrate the defeat of benin

What supremacy battle? How can Bini that dug trenches all around them to prevent Igboid speaking Ika from invading and dismantling them now come to Issele uku to build outpost to stop Ndiigbo from moving to and from the East and West of the Niger, when ancient Igbo speaking towns exist eight in Edo state. Does it make sense to you?

Ancient Igbo speaking people had always occupied Western and Eastern sides of River Niger before the first Bini man upwalked the Earth.
...

The trenches were built during oguola time... Years before Ewuare started the Empire

Get ur facts right

yes it means igbo and yoruba influenced the benin... Even the present Obaseki is an igbo man from igbo parents
Why don't u ask ur self why Obaseki grand parents left Anioma to Benin?

It was because Benin was better place to leave in than Igbo land...

It is akin to Nigerians moving to Canada for better living... Will u say Nigeria then influence Canada.. Igbos and Yoruba never influenced Benin...

Igbos that were living in hamlets prior to the almagamation of Nigeria wants to influence the great Benin kingdom that was already doing trades with the Portuguese, Dutch , English cheesy

Go and check your history

Yoruba and igbo influence in benin is high... That was why the igbi supported Obaseki fully

For ur info, ur support means nothing if the Edo people didn't come out en masse to vote for him...

Even Yoruba support ize iyamu but did they win with their support without Edo approval?

Igwe festival is a festival to celebrate the defeat of benin

The moat was created in the 1285 then in the 15th century, the Benin kingdom Rose up and defeated ur people....

That's why the agbor still has many of Benin custom in their culture

And the igwe Festival is a scam

Even the agbor distanced themselves from Igbos

How is this map precise?
Can you show me Igboland on that map?

The first Igbo speaking place whites visited was Aboh, under Eze Obi Ossai reign. Before then , not much is known about Igbo hinterland.

The Binis probably told the Portuguese that they controlled the whole hinterland East of Bini which led to that ridiculous Portuguese map. But immediately the British got into the hinterland, the maps were modified to reflect reality.

chukwu gozie gi Nna. I do learn a lot from you.
Are you saying Aboh is Igbo? Why then did they claim Benin ancestry?

Stop with your conspiracy theories. Obviously you don't like the fact Benin is recorded as owning the region (the region was part of Benin!) That doesn't give you the right to just make up your own stories and present them as facts.
There is no précolonial country called "igboland" !
As I keep telling you, time changes things, the word Igbo wasn't born the same day God created the earth ! So don't expect that the "Igbo people " have always existed !
Today's reality is different from yesterday's !
And for your information theses maps (I presented several of them, not just one !) were made by people of different nationalities spreading over several centuries.

To make things short: there is no precolonial country called igboland. The term "igboland" was born at a certain date in time (notice it is an anglicised expression copying England: language-land" ). Don't expect to see reference to it before it's birth. The expression "Igboland" was most likely invented by the British.

Stop stupidly attacking eye-witness accounts (extremely precise maps for that matter) only to offer your biased opinions and made up stories.

For your information: old documents are more valid to the study of history then recent documents. You seem to defend the thesis that the most recent précolonial maps are true and older ones are fake. But that is just stupidity from you. A map is just like a picture, it is just like saying your most recent pictures are true and pictures of you as a baby are false.

Also, I presented a map from 1883 which still shows Benin to be what previous maps of the region showed. 1883 is after 1839 in case you are not aware. So before invasions by the british, Benin was still a great empire.

This your argument is a bit redundant.
The map you showed was a Portuguese map who never ventured beyond the coasts and so had no real grasp of balance of power in hinterland and so assumed Bini controlled all in the hinterland.
If you look at your map, you will see that River Niger has not even been explored and mapped then. It was not until 1830 that the Lander brothers fully mapped the Niger.
So does it mean that River Niger never existed since your Portuguese map never indicated it?
The more the British explored the hinterland by interaction with involved groups and not listening to Binis, the more they got idea of real picture of things and updated the map. Your clinging unto an incomplete map made by Portuguese who never explored the hinterland but relied on accounts from those they met at the coasts is a bit desperate and hilarious .

Bini was a mushroom kingdom that the Portuguese made great by providing them with European firearms with which they used to invade and terrorize neighboring groups before the weapons proliferation happened and balance was restored with the Bini pegged back.

I know you hate the British for putting an end to Bini menace in Southern Nigeria which the Portuguese created.

No one created Igbo land. No one taught the Igbanke in Edo state how to speak their mother tongue Igboid language despite centuries of Bini imperialism and attempts at obliterating their Igboid language by Oba palace.

Of course nwanne. Ancient Aboh kingdom was Igbo.
In fact the then King of Aboh who the whites met, by name Eze Obi Ossai told the whites that he and his people were Eboes. He also told the whites that the rest of Igbos lived across the Niger and bluffed that he was king of all Igbos. The British called Aboh Eboe town thinking it was the capital city of all Igbos.
You can read the British report of Aboh expedition here.
http://archive.org/stream/narrativeofexped01alle/narrativeofexped01alle_djvu.txt

As for why Aboh claim Bini origin. Bini was a strong kingdom thanks to Portuguese firearms they had monopoly on. Claiming relationship with Bini was a thing of pride and power for many groups around then. It offered protection from Bini and from other neighbours.

Just compare it to how some Igbos are claiming Israeli origin today, just because Israel is a strong military nation. Every minute similarities between Igbo culture and Israel is exaggerated and doctored by Igbos driving this fabrication.

Of course, they will always play down the question on why our language is not in anyway related to Israeli language.

The most powerful and influential races are two--the Aku and the Ibo. The
Akus [Footnote: This is a nickname from the national salutation, 'Aku, ku,
ku?' ('How d'ye do?')] or Egbas of Yoruba, the region behind Lagos, the
Eyeos of the old writers, so called from their chief town, 'Oyo,' are
known by their long necklaces of tattoo. They are termed the Jews of
Western Africa; they are perfect in their combination, and they poison
with a remarkable readiness. The system of Egba 'clanship' is a favourite,
sometimes an engrossing, topic for invective with the local press, who
characterise this worst species of 'trades-union,' founded upon
intimidation and something worse, as the 'Aku tyranny' and the 'Aku
Inquisition.' The national proverb speaks the national sentiment clearly
enough: '_Okàn kau lè ase ibi, ikoko li asi ìmolle bi atoju ìmolle taù, ke
atoju ibi pella, bi aba kû ara enni ni isni 'ni'_ ('A man must openly
practise the duties of kinship, even though he may privately belong to a
(secret) club; when he has attended the club he must also attend to the
duties of kinship, because when he dies his kith and kin are those who
bury him').

The Ibos, or 'Eboes' of American tales, are even more divided; still they
feel and act upon the principle 'Union is strength.' This large and savage
tribe, whose headquarters are at Abo, about the head of the Nigerian
delta, musters strong at Sá Leone; here they are the Swiss of the
community; the Kruboys, and further south the Kabenda-men being the
'Paddies.' It is popularly said that while the Aku will do anything for
money, the Ibo will do anything for revenge. Both races are astute in the
extreme and intelligent enough to work harm. Unhappily, their talents
rarely take the other direction. In former days they had faction-fights:
the second eastern district witnessed the last serious disturbance in
1834. Now they do battle under the shadow of the law. 'Aku constables will
not, unless in extreme cases, take up their delinquent countrymen, nor
will an Ebo constable apprehend an Ebo thief; and so on through all the
different tribes,' says the lady 'Resident of Sierra Leone.' If the
majority of the jury be Akus, they will unhesitatingly find the worst of
Aku criminals innocent, and the most innocent of whites, Ibos, or Timnis
guilty. The Government has done its best to weld all those races into one,
and has failed. Many, however, are becoming Moslems, as at Lagos, and this
change may have a happier effect by introducing the civilisation of
El-Islam.

Trial by jury has proved the reverse of a blessing to most non-English
lands; in Africa it is simply a curse. The model institution becomes here,
as in the United States, a better machine for tyranny than any tyrant,
except a free people, ever invented. The British Constitution determines
that a man shall be tried by his peers. Half a dozen of his peers at Sá
Leone may be full-blooded blacks, liberated slaves, half-reformed
fetish-worshippers, sometimes with a sneaking fondness for Shángo, the
Egba god of fire; and, if not criminals and convicts in their own country,
at best paupers clad in dishclouts and palm-oil. The excuse is that a
white jury cannot be collected among the forty or fifty eligibles in
Freetown. It is vain to 'challenge,' for other negroes will surely take
the place of those objected to. No one raises the constitutional question,
'Are these half-reclaimed savages my peers?' And if he did, Justice would
sternly reply, 'Yes.' The witnesses will forswear themselves, not, like
our 'posters,' for half a crown, but gratis, because the plaintiff or
defendant is a fellow-tribesman. The judge may be 'touched with a
tar-brush;' but, be he white as milk, he must pass judgment according to
verdict. This state of things recalls to mind the Ireland of the early
nineteenth century, when the judges were prefects armed with a penal code,

Notice that the Igbos in Sierra Leone saw Aboh as their headquarters.
Aboh town used to play prominent role in Igbo nationalism. The balkanization of Igboland with Aboh left and rest of Anioma left in Western region in 1938 by Bernard Bourdillion, was the beginning of identity crisis in those parts of Igbo speaking regions.

Solution would be political unification of Eastern Igbo with Western Igbo.

The Benin kingdom was already growing by the time the Portuguese came... There is a reason the Portuguese sold weapons to Benin and not to the itsekiri or ijaws or the other tribes that were by the coasts and it was because they saw that the Benin were powerful hence the need to associate with them

Besides . Ewuare expanded the kingdom in the 15th century while the Portuguese started selling arms to Benin in the 16th-17th century

More like they saw expansionist tendency in Bini and decided they were better fit for the job.

Borders change overtime. For example you can take a look at maps of the Roman empire and see how its borders kept changing over time. Don't expect to see a country named France in the era of the Roman empire, France wasn't born yet.

pazienza you need better understanding of the concept of time. It seems you don't understand even the very fondamental fact that your parents were not born old !
Or the fact that your parents have not always existed. Time changes things. So please try and grow up intellectually

Oga. The Portuguese map was an incomplete map.
They never met groups living hinterland to know the real situation of things.
Bini empire never expanded beyond Abudu hills.
Yes, its fame and influence travelled further, but the people were not under Oba command in Western Igbo. They had Ezes who went by the
Igbo title of Obi and not Enojies.

He also told the whites that the rest of Igbos lived across the Niger and bluffed that he was king of all Igbos. The British called Aboh Eboe town thinking it was the capital city of all Igbos.
You can read the British report of Aboh expedition here.

I am blessed to have you. Thanks so much. This is just great

pazienza:

More like they saw expansionist tendency in Bini and decided they were better fit for the job.

Well they did business ..... With who they saw as powerful...

And not with tribes not completely able to do the job...

If Benin kingdom was mushroom as u made ur self to think, why would the Portuguese opt to transact with the Benin as opposed to the itsekiri, ijaw, Igbos who even lived Closer to the coast than Benin

So pazienza, things have got so bad for you that you are not only denying history, you are now denying the present ?

I presented several maps: two made by two french people, one made by an Italian, one made by a person from Holland, I am not sure I even presented a map made by a Portuguese. The maps I presented were made in different periods of time.
I even presented a map made in 1883 which contradicts your conspiracy theories.
The region had been sufficiently explored in the 1400's for the explorers to produse quality precised maps and my proof is that they did just that.
But denying reality has become a must for you since reality contradicts your dogma and your plans.

The region had a name: Benin.

I am not sure you understand the meaning of the word redundant. Anyways by denying obvious reality which everybody can see, you have shown to every reader that you are a liar and a denier of reality.

One thing people must notice about me is that I make scam artists expose themselves. As you all can see now pazienza was and always had been a liar, a dogma driven person who spews unsubstantiated claims which favour his dogma.
I just wonder how mentally ill he needs to be in order to deny even things which are before his very eyes. He used to deny historical facts now he also denies the present. He lives in his own alternate reality.

You forgot to write the name of the real inferior one amongst you guys; Samuk ..... lol cheesy grin

Yet you will pretend not to be enjoying my lectures and curing of Igbos of their ignorance. You couldn't even pretend and hide your admiration for me. You actually went through that list looking for me and felt disappointed. You just revealed that I have really knocked some vital information into your heads grin grin I know you will be okay now that you have heard from me. You just couldn't resist calling my name.

You are not satisfied with all the brilliant submissions so far, you still want to hear from Samuk.
