WARRI, Nigeria –  A member of a separatist group in southern Nigeria says 11 people were killed when security forces cracked down on a demonstration in support of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, though police deny there were any deaths.

Ugochukwu Chinweuba of the Indiguenous People of Biafra says police and soldiers used live rounds to break up Friday's demonstration in Rivers state.

Nnamdi Omoni, a spokesman for Rivers state police, says the claim is false and that police only used tear gas. Neither of the competing accounts could be independently verified.

The demonstrators urged Trump to support their demands for an independent Biafran state for Nigeria's Igbo people.

In November, Amnesty International accused Nigeria's military of killing 150 pro-Biafra protesters
The army denied the allegations, saying soldiers used "maximum restraint."

Even the Republican news site has gotten wind of it.
I expect donald ikechukwu trump to begin his first chastisement of the African continent with Nigeria. A blatant example of everything that is actually wrong with the african cesspit.
A stark proof that President donald was right when he suggested that the only relationship America and the developed west can have with Africa and indeed Nigeria is welding the big stick of punishment every time till africans evolve to something resembling humans.
Let me see the idiott minister or president in Nigeria that would have the temerity to go and ask the US to support Nigeria.
IPOB is sytematically and gradually cutting Nigeria off from international good-will and relevant international support.
Very soon, the only discourse the US and the rest of the world would be looking to have with Nigeria is improving human right and secessionism.
Electricity generation, trade, economy, and globalization would be a forbidden discourse for Nigeria just like Iran, North korea, zimbabwe, somalia and other backward states.

Sorry to disappoint you, fox news is fox news, not politicians, not UN or EU all they do is report, not give you referendum

According to the news

Ugochukwu Chinweuba of the Indigenous People of Biafra says police and soldiers used live rounds to break up Friday's demonstration in Rivers state.

Didn't somebody argue that it was not demonstration? Despite the fact that the president insisted no one should protest

How does violence get you Biafra?

Just wasting your lives unnecessarily.

That chap in the pic above is dead. That's the end. Life continues. In a month's time he is forgotten. Only his family is left to mourn him.

I'm wondering when this people will sit themselves down and ask, "is there a more intelligent way of achieving this without sacrificing our able-bodied children"

Something tells me I'll grow white whiskers waiting.

Death comes to us whether we protest or not. Our daughter was sacrificed recently for the unity of this country.

She wasn't protesting.

She wasn't armed.

She wasn't preaching hate speech.

Yet she died.

Don't pity them that are dead, they died for what they believe in.

Why are you asking all these stupid questions without asking the ones that are important?

Why should the Nigerian security agencies shoot unarmed people? Is that their job? Are they allowed to shoot unarmed people under the constitution? What is wrong with people like you? How can your Police and Army be committing murder and you are asking irrelevant qyestions?

If my questions sound stupid to you it's probably because your skull is too thick to allow anything in.

Which questions are important then?

The police should fold their arms and watch a group of law-breakers cause mayhem?

The authorities who have sworn to protect lives and properties of citizens should smile and nod their heads in approval while you guys go on a rampage?

Your solidarity walk, how far? Has it given you the Biafra?

Screengrab my earlier response, frame it on your bedroom wall, meditate on it day and night, call your IPOB elders to come and join you to contemplate it, because until there's a measure of intelligence in your struggle, more people from your side will continue to die needlessly.

But I'm sure you can't see that.

All you see and want people to comment on is that people have been killed.

They are dead. A sensible group will think of how to prevent the next massacre.

But then, Biafra screamers aren't all that sensible, are they?

Law breakers? How did they break the law? They came out, waved Biafran flags, supported Donald Trump? If this is breaking the law to you then grab a copy of the Nigerian constitution and read chapter 4. People are allowed to demonstrate for any reason, be it Biafra, Donald Trump or that it didnt snow in Sahara desert. We are all allowed to demonstrate for whatever reason.

A Sensible group would think about how to prevent the next massacre?

Then how sensible are you when you dont even know that it is the Nigerian police and Army, who are paid to preserve life, are the ones shooting and killing unarmed people? You are not even sensible enough to realise that it is a cardinal sin for the armed forces to shoot at anyone who is unarmed? Wether in a war situation or not. Firing a gun is only last resort, there are many things a security personel should do before they aim their weapons at civilians and shoot in a non combatant situation. Why did they have to kill people? People went on rampage in Washington yesterday that Trump was sworn in, even worse than IPOB protest in Portharcourt, nobody was shot at or killed.

Since Nigerians operate on diffent scale than America

Let them leave Biafrans alone to operate on the American scale and Donald Trump?

Just because Lord Lugard came in 1914 to say we are all Nigerians does not mean Luagard was right. Lugard wasnt even African but many West Africans still choose to answer the name he formulated and claim the country he created as their country. Why? Why should an Igbo/Hausa/Yoruba man still be answering the name of Lugard and claiming what the British chap created as their country?

But whenever the Igbo man says he would like to forge his own path along with the minorities who are comfortable with him

The Hausa and Yoruba man will shout "Lord Lugard made us one and that we must remain forever"

How can Yorubas and Hausas still have this sort of colonial mentality in 2017?
