Happy New Year,Phone Phreaks!!
I decided to start this thread to enlighten us on how to create .prov files ourselves without having to direct our phone browsers to file-sharing and prov-making websites for help anytime we need to replace a .prov file.
For those that don't know,provisioning files are needed by s40 Nokia phones in order for their java applications(those which need internet connection) to function well.

Get list of s40 Nokia phones HERE
Requirements

1. Sample .prov files
2. Notepad++ 5.6.4 - DOWNLOAD

Unzip file included in the attachment to view two files.The old version file is for s40v2 and 3 while the new version file is for s40v5(XpressMusic and Supernova Editons).

Rename attachment to .rar

To edit any of the files,the following information must be supplied
1. IP
2. Port Number
3.APN

Open any of the files on our PC and right click,select edit with Notepad++
The file will display several characters but you must pay attention to the characters circled in the screenshots below:-

Once you have carefully entered the required information,all you need to do is save and make sure is extension is .prov.
Your .prov file is now ready to be transferred to your phone via bluetooth.
If you come up with invalid settings,check to see that the information is entered correctly without any spaces between and is saved as .prov.

If you are able to perform this operation successfully,try customizing the file and adding your name.
Now,you don't need someone to upload working .prov files anywhere when you have the access point data and tools to create one yourself!

Nice thread!. . . . if i might just chip in this, s40 users, there's this application that you can use to create, edit & customise proxy files using your s40 phone, it is called Class editor, u can dwnload it @
sharemobile or at 9jadownloads.wap9.mobi

Nice thread but u'd better be careful with Mr Spambot. It was a similar thread like this with screenshots (Downloading Videos From Youtube Made Easy) that got me banned.

The last time i was banned,i advised Seun and Mukina2 to write up a seperate Rules & Regulations Handbook for the Phone Section through the appropriate moderator.They told me that this section was a hotbed for spammers.
Consequences
1.You dare not post long write-ups.
2.Sensitive words(unknown to the poster until after ban) are torched by the spambot.
3.Modify button not workin'.
No one has come out to say what ''words'' attract a ban for the poster so u'll have to learn it yourself.Once you don't see someone's post,click his username and scrutinise his write-up.It often gives you an idea of the offensive word/words.
Kai,i think i'm punishable for violatin' Rule 1.

I knew all these and I thought I was an expert at avoiding Mr spambot until I was banned. Funny thing is the thread I created was even in the Computer section and not here.

I just downloaded the Class Editor but I don't understand its usage.

A new downloading site for Prov will be available soon, just enter d ip and search.

I was using it before i stumbled on notepad++
The only people i advise to use class editor are the s40 users who have no access to a PC.
Maybe i'll post the tutorials if nobody steps up.

It contains the necessary files to create a prov file offline.After downloading this file, your antivirus might delete a trojan in the Keygen.exe file in the rar compilation.You may ignore the warning as the file is safe to use.

I editted a proxy and port with the Notepad++ and it worked. However, I tried renaming the prov file( as in the prov file name) and it was not recognized by the s40 phone.Any solution?
