when you tell a layman something came from nothing, what he thinks you mean is that it popped out of thin air, what then separates a layman from someone more knowledgeable about the subject is that the word "thin air" is part of the universe which is actually "something" and not "nothing" like the layman thought

I'm talking about a universe out of nothing, no one would say that pop of out of thin air since there is no air before the universe. That's why I never heard anyone say that.

"Popped out of thin air" doesn't mean came from thin air, no one thinks that when they say that, they mean something more along the lines of coming into existence, where the thing came from absolutely nothing as I described it earlier bro.

By layman I meant a common person, they would understand literally nothing just like most people.

The only people who don't accept the common sense definition are not surprising, the same people who make up their own definitions regularly, namely atheists.
