Okay, let's do justice to this. Soul and Mind are the very same thing but different concept for usage, what this means is, In the religion context (mostly Christianity), The mind is regarded as the soul but literally, The MIND is embedded in the brain and the function of the mind is tied or intertwined with the consciousness and sub- consciousness part of the brain.

I hope this best solves your curiosity.

Wow...
Just a bit, lol

So you are saying the mind is UP. there in the brain Whenever I think of it or read anything about it, I just think it's something located somewhere in the heart but it's unseen...

I think there's an unseen me, inside of the flesh storing those things (the mind/soul, emotions and personalities)..

So the soul performs the same function as the mind then?

Absolutely, the soul and mind are the very same thing but understood from different context. religious folks mostly use soul while in psychology it is regarded as the mind. like I said earlier, the soul/mind cut across the consciousness and unconsciousness.

To further get an insight on this on your own, read up Id, ego & superego by Sigmund Freud then you would realize how the mind is also the soul.

U no know book? The two spellings na the same thing?
Re: Does The Soul Differs From The Mind? by seansifo(m): 11:43am On Nov 09, 2017
First of all, I want to remind us that a man is made up of spirit soul and body according to 1 Thessalonian 5. Now the soul us made of of the will, desire, emotion and mind. You can know a man on how he exhibits his will, motion, desire and mind.

Conclude. The mind is one of the components of the soul

Funny you... Because the spellings are different does not mean it's two different thing... Take a clock and a (wrist)watch for example... cheesy

hmm, this is what I think of it... The spirit, for communicating with God and anything supernatural.. The soul for for feelings, desires and emotions
while the the mind is for reasoning, will and logic

Well, what do I know?
Thanks for contributing...

Okay, thanks for those contributions up there, but ops, how's your walk with God
Re: Does The Soul Differs From The Mind? by Hier(m): 2:57pm On Nov 17, 2017
haven asked the question above, my contribution goes thus.

Man was firstly a Spirit as at creation

God gave man a body, the body has the ability to lift object and operate here on earth

Finally, the breathe of God into man made man a living soul

The soul is meant to be a connector between the body and the Spirit, like, the spirit passes an information to the soul, and the soul carries it out.

The soul consist of the intellect, the reasoning and emotion

The mind and the soul are used interchangeably in the Bible, but whatever the case is, I want to know about your spiritual welbeing if you mind

I say, the human is an etheric being perpetuating life in a biological body.

The soul is you that is the immortal being while the mind is your operating system that consists different levels of consciousness and responsible for your rationale.

I'm a believer. Not been one for long though, but I'm still exploring and learning and just. . .building my spiritual life.

Imma still a baby christian sha, and I do WANT to grow out of that state.

Been trying, to grow, to change, to live by the word.. that's what I like to think and I still think i'm not trying enough, lol... I'll be changed though. 'will be perfected.

I am changing, daily.
The more I shed my old self, the more I get KNOW who I am. The more my sense of SELF deepens. :-)

Your explanation seems similarly to something I read from a book 'The release of the Spirit'.

It talks about the Spirit man taking the nature of the Soul(whether it's proud, humble etc), and the soul manifesting itself through the body...

So the spirit(if re-created) makes use of the soul for its work, and the soul enables the body to carry out the wishes of the spirit ...

hmm, so they are different things to you?

What does the soul do then? It's just. . . immortal and existing? Floating about inside you?

It's immortal, yes.
Technically not floating about, I like to think that the brain is the seat of the soul and the mind.

Have you heard of the pineal gland?

I think the soul is different from the mind...the soul is that part of us that connects us to the universe, the supreme, and celestial, intuition births from the soul to the mind. While the mind is what we use to plan, and make our ways through this physical matter state.

The first responder is actually correct. I have also studied this subject, there is no difference between the soul and the mind, it only depends on the context.

OP, there is no separating the mind from the soul. The mind also consists of our will, emotion and intellect (just as the soul does).

So, damage to the mental implies damage to the soul, this particularly in the case of those who struggle with mental Illness? undecided

Bluezy13, (what's the reason behind this monicker, anyway?)

I was starting to wonder why you haven't responded. Should have known it's the silly bot. It's banned me too from commenting in the Romance section.

So, where did that come from? It's the "randomest" I ever got in a while. Or was it the Holy Spirit who put that in your heart? cheesy That's the only explanation that would absolutely make sense to me, rn.

Thank you. Yeah I got it, and I do (or did, anyone, lol) appreciate it. smiley

The definition of psychology tells you that they are one and the same thing.

Psyche means soul or mind!

Therefore, psychology is the study of the soul aka mind aka spirit.

Where is it located? You women are quite the expert in this area much more than men and I am very suspicious of the reason for this question most especially as I know, that you women already know that it does not matter, as long as you have it and you are going to use it to the fullest to your own gain, even if other persons are destroyed by it.l

We I do not suscribe to the Holy Spirit and the only explanation I have to offer is that it is the reward for the "successful" prank you carried out which I promised.

The spirit, aka ruach, aka breath of life aka life force, the soul and the body have different faculties.

The faculties of the spirit, made up of Fellowship, Conscience, Discernment or Intuition.

The faculties of the soul, is made up of the Mind (i.e. consciousness and sub consciousness) or Intellect, Will or Freewill, and Emotions.

As for the body, it has five faculties of senses, which are faculties, to see with, via the eyes, hear, via the ears, feel, via applicable part of the body, smell, via the nose and lastly to taste, via the mouth.

Where is the soul located?
Where equally is the spirit located?

The mind is one of the composites that makes up the soul, so, meaning, thats, one of the differences between both

Used to be my 2go rooms nickname.
Was kind of popular then with many stories attached.
A lady friend I met then...2011...gave me the name. She would call me Bluezy and I would call her Pinky. It was fun. That was before I lost interest in chatting/flirting. I wouldn't want to go deeper. Though some friends I met through there still call me the name physically.

What about you, what's the meaning behind your Pseudonym ??

Magnolia is a flower. I like flowers and would pluck them wherever I see them or save countless pictures of it on my phone. The extra 'a' is just like some style. I was attached to the name Petunia for sometime too, because I used to keep a kind of "Book List" in which I write stuff, so I would go to Google and write out about 50, 60, 80 flower names. It was fun and it was building my knowledge. cheesy And they appear in novels a lot. So I used to pick from that list (including a gem stones list) whenever I want to open a social media account. I could never stick with one. Marigold, Ixora, Poinsettia, Windflower/Anemone, Gardenia, Dahlia, Dianthus, Amaranth(us), Hyacinth, Wildflower, Begonia, Amaryllis, Carnie (carnation), Peony, Primrose... quite a lot for nicks. (And for my writings- Primrose High School, Marigold Academy, Cherry Blossom Int'l, LMAO. I just mix them up if I needed something, a company name, a cinema, an establishment, you get?). So I finally settled with one- this one- when I was going to open an NL account and thankfully, I've not loved it any less since then.

The soul is the hardware

The mind is the software..

The soul is made up of the body that was made from dust and the spirit or breath of God.

The mind is the operating software. Which has its sit in the brain and the pineal gland..

The soul is not immortal. When a man experiences death, the soul ceases to exist..

I used to have an interesting virtual friend. Her name was Petunia, a single young mom. Used to imagine many things about the name, the personality behind the name, but I never met her.

I understand flowers names to have this unexplained aura that provokes euphoria of imaginations... especially flowers not yet seen physically outside the pages of books and mere descriptions.
For example, I was introduced to three flowers while in primary school; Rose, Hibiscus and Allamanda. I used to imagine how they would look like physically...you know ..the joy that it will give to finally see the flowers and why they were special selections.
I have seen Rose and Hibiscus, yet to see Allamanda and this inability to see it causes me to imagine many things about it. I think I understand the perceptions flowers' names give and flowers itself. You know, such aesthetics instigate wandering of the mind.

You must be introvertive in nature, I suppose...right ?

This is a perspective here and I couldn't agree more. smiley I have only thought of them as simply beautiful and nothing else. I can't identify most of the ones I see around here... or perhaps I just don't know that they are actually this particular flower. I saw one veryyy tiny flower with a friend and she had to bring my attention to it. Like, look. Isn't this 'this' sunflower? It's looks so much like it, but a sunflower seems so large in pictures.

Petunia sure isn't a common name. At all. I can imagine how interesting and distinctive or "ingenue" she must have been. cheesy

I am an introvert, yes.
