Blacks Don’t Read

This is very deep, and unfortunately, very true!

This is a heavvvvy piece and a Caucasian wrote it.

THEY ARE STILL OUR SLAVES
We can continue to reap profits from the Blacks without the effort of physical slavery. Look at the current methods of containment that they use on themselves: IGNORANCE, GREED, and SELFISHNESS.

Their IGNORANCE is the primary weapon of containment. A great man once said, “The best way to hide something from Black people is to put it in a book.” We live now in the Information Age. They have gained the opportunity to read any book on any subject through the efforts of their fight for freedom, yet they refuse to read.

There are numerous books readily available at Borders, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon.com, not to mention their own Black Bookstores that provide solid blueprints to reach economic equality (which should have been their fight all along), but few read consistently, if at all.

GREED is another powerful weapon of containment. Blacks, since the abolition of slavery, have had large amounts of money at their disposal. Last year they spent 10 billion dollars during Christmas, out of their 450 billion dollars in total yearly income (2.22%). Any of us can use them as our target market, for any business venture we care to dream up, no matter how outlandish, they will buy into it. Being primarily a consumer people, they function totally by greed. They continually want more, with little thought for saving or investing. They would rather buy some new sneaker than invest in starting a business. Some even neglect their children to have the latest Tommy or FUBU. And they still think that having a Mercedes, and a big house gives the “Status” or that they have achieved the American Dream.

They are fools! The vast majority of their people are still in poverty because their greed holds them back from collectively making better communities. With the help of BET, and the rest of their black media that often broadcasts destructive images into their own homes, we will continue to see huge profits like those of Tommy and Nike. (Tommy Hilfiger has even jeered them, saying he doesn’t want their money, and look at how the fools spend more with him than ever before!). They’ll continue to show off to each other while we build solid communities with the profits from our businesses that we market to them.

SELFISHNESS, ingrained in their minds through slavery, is one of the major ways we can continue to contain them. One of their own, Dubois said that there was an innate division in their culture. A “Talented Tenth” he called it. He was correct in his deduction that there are segments of their culture that has achieved some “form” of success. However, that segment missed the fullness of his work. They didn’t read that the “Talented Tenth” was then responsible to aid the Non-Talented Ninety Percent in achieving a better life. Instead, that segment has created another class, a Buppie class that looks down on their people or aids them in a condescending manner. They will never achieve what we have. Their selfishness does not allow them to be able to work together on any project or endeavor of substance. When they do get together, their selfishness lets their egos get in the way of the goal. Their so-called help organizations seem to only want to promote their name without making any real change in their community. They are content to sit in conferences and conventions in our hotels, and talk about what they will do, while they award plaques to the best speakers, not the best doers. Is there no end to their selfishness? They steadfastly refuse to see that “TOGETHER EACH ACHIEVES MORE (TEAM)! They do not understand that they are no better than each other because of what they own. In fact, most of those Buppies are but one or two paychecks away from poverty. All of which is under the control of our pens in our offices and our boardrooms.

Yes, will continue to contain them as long as they refuse to read, continue to buy anything they want, and keep thinking they are “helping” their communities by paying dues to organizations which do little other than hold lavish conventions in our hotels.

By the way, don’t worry about any of them reading this letter, remember,

‘THEY DON’T READ!!!!’

(Prove them wrong. Please pass this on!)

(A “buppie,” says the Urban Dictionary, is “A highly sophisticated and upper class black person. Usually a black city or suburban resident with a well-paid professional job and an affluent lifestyle: b[lack] + [y]uppie.”)

Blacks do read... in fact, more than their Caucasian counterpart...
And what they call Greed and Selfishness is simply AMBITION.
The original author of the post (I mean the white man) is suffering from Caucasian Ignorance which is common but peculiar to people with pale skin.

Am black and proud too but he is actually right. Yes, culturally we are selfish/self centered and that does not relate to being ambitious whatsoever. We do read, but compared to other races those who stand out to such levels are those he called Talented Tenth who are not willing to come together to develop the remaining Ninety but rather hold conferences with the façade of helping the community but actually with the intention of self-acknowledgement.

You sure are difficult to help though, with every Nigerian being a "talented tenth".

Perhaps we should try harder. We don't yet read enough.

It is saddening but true that black people tend not to read.

3 years ago I visited a black family in Northern europe of about 7 people with a good book of mine (Think Big by Ben Carson). In the Book I placed 500 euros as a gift for one of the member of the family over there.

Upon arriving there, I gave him the book but did not tell him there is a gift of money inside. I thought he would find out and that would have a better impact on him, than if I told him bluntly.

3 years later that is a few months ago, I went to visit them again. My good friend was a bit busy there, so I decided to look for something to read while waiting. I found the book in the living room, at the very same spot He had placed it before (among other books). I took the book to read it and to my utter shock, the 500 euros were still there.

Nobody in the family had ever touched the book, and thus missed the 500.

I decided to take the book and the money back with me.

And is it not written in the Bible that you will become malnourished if you eat only bread?

When we say "read", it includes gain 'understanding' of what you read too, for that is what fosters wisdom.

It is enough that we eat of our Lord's flesh.

Let us read no more lest we become wise in our own conceits.

Whether one is conceited or not is entirely up to oneself, and the none use of the talent of the intellect is a desire for imperfection which might be unpleasing to a God who seems to like perfection. We all know what happens to those who refuse to use their talent, even the little they have will be taken away from them! The wise do not shirk their duty for fear of conceit because wisdom is lord over conceit, as it is over every sin.

I want to hope you are joking. One can only eat the flesh of Jesus by imbibing every Word that proceedeth from the Mouth of God, and you must be aware God's mouth is sometimes a burning bush, an angel, Balaam's ass, a voice in the cloud, your neighbour, yourself even, and etc.

I am stating here that the Bible is only the syllabus, the bread, and if you eat only bread you will be malnourished, and those who fear Words will never learn to say "Let there be".

Great experiment and sadly unsurprising results.
they probably would have read it if it was a religious book, especially if authored by their imam or pastor to keep their hope alive and reduce their probability to work for their individual and COMMUNITY development.
Terrible. Pathetic.
Can we also bet if three years later this thread will make front page of nairaland?
Any takers

I see..... So why are Black countries so BACKWARDS? So CORRUPT? So UNDERDEVELOPING?

We read so much yet Nigeria, the most populous Black nation, has the highest out of school children on earth?

ALL Black people want to live where Whites are in leadership because life is easier, better, cleaner with Whites, so what is it we are reading then more than Whites if they create a much better civilization than black people can?

With all our reading, what have Black Africans contributed to make the world BETTER? What inventions? What technology? What innovations?

If you say Black people read more than Whites, where is your EVIDENCE? Where then are the world's largest libraries if it is Black man who reads the most?

Just name one country, even a tiny Island where Black man is leader and the whole world wants to go there for a better life. Like Black people rush to leave Africa to enjoy the good thing the White man has created for himself in his own countries.

It is only in our colonially inherited systems, like our govt, police, western style cities, etc that we exhibit selfishness, greed, etc with little remorse.

A study was done a few years ago of Igbo village associations based in Lagos. The objective was to find the level of fraud occurrence in the spending of members' donations, budgets, treasury funds etc. The results showed fraud was at 0%.

The African in his pre-colonial setting, is an epitome of virtue and accountability.

Oh, and blacks DO read and have ALWAYS loved to read.

In fact, the white author's ancestors were illiterate savages in Europe's Dark Ages at the very time when black African scholars wrote MILLIONS OF VOLUMES of text, known today as the Timbuktu Manuscripts, dated from the 9th to 16th centuries, and covering every subject known to man, from astronomy to advanced mathematics.
