Peaceful Protest In Nigeria Is A Total Waste Of Time. Here's Why by kosovo(m): 1:33pm On Mar 11, 2010
After carefully watching the Nation gradually turning into a Tomatoes Republic, i have come to understand that peaceful protests are a total waste of time and resources. No political official would be moved by a bunch of happy people ([insert Happiest people in the world] here) carrying placard of various inscription trying to bring home any of their demands. Nigerians always amaze me each time they engage in this act and expect aliquantum from these political defalcators who only see the direction of the Ghana-must-go.

I want to categorically say that, there is no Use for Peaceful protest, what Nigeria needs is effective and aggressive means to drive home their demands. If the people of Greece were as happy as Nigerians when their Government mismanaged public funds that eventually lead to their economic recession, Their Government would have remained in power, but the combination of protest with force caused the resignation of the President within 24 hours. No Nigerian politician would resign over placards, Nigerians must wake up,  For too long the Nigeria Government has enslave her people, For too long the Nigeria people has been in a state of excruciation. The Nigeria people and the international community  have labeled the Government as malus peior pessimus, but the Government have refused to change their discredited political policies, Yet we still carry placards and sing solidarity songs? what a waste of human capacity.

For The Nigeria Government to know that Nigerians are no longer happy, Peaceful protest must be abandoned, Nigerians must wake to reality. I want to say that yesterday protest was nonsensical, what has the save Nigeria group achieved since it's inception?, Lets stop deceiving ourselves. with the over-abundance of natural resources and human capital, No Nigerian should be meant to suffer. angry

@Kosovo, are you, or does anyone you know, prepared to lead such a protest? If so, when are these non peaceful protests going to start? If not, then you, and the masses are part of the problem and deserve the government you have.

I don't think he is proposing a protest as such, no, its about simply throwing molotov cocktails at erring politicians.

I am prepared to change the face of the nation,

Let me also say that,  those who have been clamoring for the break-up of Nigeria, Do you think breaking-up is just as easy as it sounds to the ears,  ?? You must Fight to Break, why not conserve that energy and use to drive the nation in the right direction. if we continue to talk from our cubicle, No change would would ever come to the Nation and no division either.

Kosovo,
Majority of people are not clamouring for breakup, they just want fiscal federalism, this communist and collectivist approach to governance and resource control is the root of our problem.

Local solutions for local problems, why do we love to complicate things.

Those clamouring for break up as you put it, will be happy with devolution with full resource control.

A protest is never a waste of time. Remember Winnie Mandela in Soweto, it may take a while but the small axe will fell the big tree, eventually.

Peaceful protest is for people that understands peace and justice.
Nigerian looters in power understand only violence.
that is the reason niger delta militants are succeeding where MASSOB is failing.

I have learnt that criticizing is very easy. It will be appreciated whenever we criticize some people who makes little or some effort to protest about the state of the Nation,to always proffer an alternative which of course on the long run will yield a better result. 1goal I believe is a better society that we are all seeking .

Peaceful protest do not work in Nigeria.

Only violence works. Our people only understand violence. This is the simple truth about Nigeria.

Dude you're talking out of both sides of your mouth o. You say nigerians are not ready to cause change but when they come out and protest peacefully, you complain as well. Personally, I don't believe there is anything wrong with people coming out to march on the streets to signify their opposite. The idea is that the protest would gain momentum and more people would join until the shouts of the people can be heard by the charlatans and oppresors.

Surely, you're not advocating violence are you ?

There is no reward for peaceful protest if it does not cripple the economy or government.

When are you going to give up your terrorist ways? Even Mandela had to give up and renounce terrorism before he was able to free his people through political means. You people have to learn to play the political game, olodo.

MOSSOB represent a peaceful march to achieve her purpose of soverign state of Biafra.
While Biafra represents the collective struggle that will not seat down and watch the pogrom continue. Be it by dialogue or force it must be made to stop.

You seem to rejoice when the 'enemies from your place' are intimidating others. Have you heard of inevitable wars or inevitable violent protests?

No need for long gist, apologies but I have ceased to find such pontifications interesting in anyway, they are not a sign of "interlect", it is just more talking. It is funny how you talk of the people in the protest playing it safe after they were informed that some up to no good politicians were planning on sending some of their men to attack the protesters and disrupt it. Even in light of such news, the protesters still proceeded. What they achieved? They mounted more pressure on the government, the protest was briefly shown on CNN, bringing more shame and embarassment to the government and increasing pressure on it. Perhaps if you did less pontificating and actually went out to add to the numbers on the street, perhaps we could be closer to achieving a million man march which would definately be something. Everyone wants to "proffer solutions" and alternatives but no one wants to act on them. Sorry, but you might want to reaccess who the cowards are. Apologies if this was a bit blunt, but if you would rather use an alternate route to get the point across, no need to write an essay about it, go instigate it and try and get others to join you. We really need to do away with all this talk and no action. Gosh has it gotten old quite fast,

I wouldn't say it is a waste of time, even if nothing changed, it created the awareness and it is the beginning of something.

You rejoice at others misfortunate while fighting to support the 'enemies from your place' infecting the disaster on people. I know what and where you represent and why all your debates here tend to mock at others misfortunate. And why will continue to sympathise and support this enemies from your place.
