My boyfriend and I have been dating for more than 2 years now, I am 19 and he is 24. We have not had sex and I am a virgin. When we started dating, I told him I wasn’t ready and he said he was fine. Yes we kiss and do other stuff but not sex. He has never pressured me to having sex and I know he is not a virgin because he told me he was having sex with his last girlfriend

He just passed his final doctor exams and I was thinking of giving him my virginity as a present for finally becoming a doctor. I can’t ask my friends because they think I am not a virgin.

Your virginity is not a price to be won, sex is not a form of reward.

You owe it to yourself that you are completely ready, mentally and otherwise. Eventually you will need to be happy with the decision to lose your virginity. That you are asking a question if you should says you are not emotionally ready to take this big step. Take note that while sex may deepen your relationship, it does not guarantee everlasting love. It does not foolproof a relationship against heartbreak either.

If however, you feel that this is the right person and the right time and you will have no regrets go for it. If not, then be patient with yourself and wait to be ready.

Just as important, is safe sex. When you do decide to be sexually active, be sure to practice very safe sex and protect against getting pregnant and sexually transmitted diseases.
