You must have heard of the Yoruba speaking dialects in Kogi which are up to five but are categorically called OKUN because of our common greetings just like the other word for Yoruba "Aku".

It seems the entire Yoruba nation do not care about we Okuns in Kogi. Okuns are known to be intelligent and academically sound. But it seems we are being forgotten here in Kogi, the Yoruba nation through her actions has shown that they have forgotten us.

I'm calling on the Okun people to come together and create an Identity for ourselves. Just like the Istekiris, let us stand on our own and stop thinking of help from our brothers.

We can clamour for a state of ours, come home to build our nation and make our children proud.

It touches my heart to see us suffer and no one to help,

It kills me that we generate almost half of Kogi income and yet our home is underdeveloped.

The governor don't care,

We are kept at the back seat and our resources exploited.

Yoruba people don't care simply because they have no love for each other. Have you notice that they oppose any call for disintegration? This is because they don't care for themselves.

You should ask your elders, what attempt have they made to associate themselves with their Yoruba brothers?
I've seen pictures of itsekiri representatives at a yoruba confab, have you guys attended any of such meetings?

And by the way, I came across an article that claims that some elders in kwara state are clamouring for a proposed Oya state that will comprise the Yorubas in kwara and kogi, have you guys made any similar move recently or in the past?

I am hearing of this for the first time.

Education is one of the problems ( so to spk) of the Yoruba nation. No central ruler. Everybody is intellectually sound, hence ready to challenge the statosquo. This can be seen in the Nigeria nation. With exception of Saro Wiwa, I have not seen any tru activist from any other part of Nigeria except the west.

Many things are not right my bro, but one certain thing that we need is a true Yoruba national conference. Yoruba from all and sundry must be first linked before we can properly bond with our other Nigerian brothers

Look, if we open a thread and call it Yoruba Commonwealth, we see people from Lagos join in and make contributions, Ogun join in, Oyo troop in, Ondo come in, Ekiti is always represented, Osun will be there, Kwara will be there, there have been instances where Itshekiri even participated. Where is our brothers in Kogi?

Start by participating on Yoruba threads and then your pain becomes our pain.

There is a lot i can share with you but we are on public domain and would be unwise to speak anyhow here.

I dont even think you have an OPC chapter in Lokoja. Do you?

OPC is present in Ilorin and even in Warri.

In fact, if you followed the story so far....Ooni, Alaafin, Alake, Awujale, Deji, Osemawe, Olowo, Timi, Oloffa, Olubadan, Ayangburen, Oluwo, Orangun....all way to Benin with Alaketu, the single prouncement is YORUBA UNITY. On the political side, Obasanjo, Fasoranti, Afe Babalola, General Akinriande, Tinubu, Fasheun, all are in active motion in the field bringing that unity into reality. The emergence of Aare Gani Adams is a breakthrough.

Expect the unity you desire with the Commonwealth to begin taking shape soon.

Another question for a new awakening.....do you have representative in AFENIFERE, in AGBEKOYA, as well YORUBA ACADEMY? We need to see your footprints here.

Kogi should be in Ibadan on 15th giving gun salute to our new Aare!
