The Fall And Fall Of English Clubsides In Uefa Champions League by bishoprccg(m): 12:12am On Apr 02, 2010
First it was Liverpool, they were not walking alone, as the dragged Chelsea to the muddy water of clubs who fell by the way sides in UEFA Champions League.
To add salt to injury, Man U were dealt a double blow with Ronnie picking up an injury and Bayern inflicting a nail biting 2-1 on Man U.
As expected, Barca almost crippled Arsenal with their flawless display of soccer artistry, and they have to thank Almunia for keeping the score at 0-0 during half time.
The game eventually ended 2-2 with Fabregas set to miss the rest of the season with a leg injury and Gallas set to miss the return leg in 8 days time.
The summary: English clubs are gradually sliding their quest to win the UEFA Champions league trophy.
Favorite? of course Barcelona
Inter also have an outside chance of pulling one or two surprises, but im tipping Barcelona to lift the trophy.
With Portsmouth going into administration and Sepp Blatter complaining about the huge salary been paid these over rated premiership star, one wonders what the future holds for the game in England.
Before i round up, i wish to prophesy once again, that Barca will totally disgrace Arsenal at Camp Nou.
Its not a theory but fact.
I dare anyone to challenge me on that!

Who cares about their level of English Language, what we want is to watch a good match not bunch of weak players wasting 90 minutes of TV time.

Every dominant culture must fall at some point. Also, the English League will fall in the years to come as revenue goes down. The rate of wages is unsustainable in the premier league. Of the big four, Arsenal have about the best model and will reap the benefits of any financial instability. Chelsea, Man Utd, and Man City have unsustainable business structures.

Yeah? Unsustainable? What about the absurd model in Spain?

Madrid is the only club with an unsustainable model in Spain. Barcelona has a fantastic model.
Real Madrid is loved by Spanish Nationalists; the municipal government of Madrid will NEVER allow it to fail. Will the British government save Man Utd or Chelsea? I don't think so.

How exactly is Barca's model more sustanaible? How exactly is 350 mln euro in debt sustainable?
Re: The Fall And Fall Of English Clubsides In Uefa Champions League by Katsumoto: 7:31pm On Apr 02, 2010
All businesses have to operate with some level of debt; it is the level of debt in relation to the capital structure that matters. I do not know the capital structure of Barcelona. Perhaps the debt it has is small compared with the equity in the capital structure. Also, the Catalunya government, like the Madrid government, is unlikely to let its powerful symbol fail.

When i made the comment about sustainability, I made it in regards to wage structure, youth development, and transfer market dealings. How much did Barcelona spend on Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol, Toure, Valdez, Busquets, Pedro, Bojan? Compare that with the signings at Madrid and Chelsea. Man utd's policy is also very good but the issue with Man utd is more about ownership of the club and its capital structure. The glazers used a leveraged buy-out to acquire Man utd, hence a very high debt ratio.

Since Chelsea were eliminated 4rm the champions league, I don't care wat happens. Let the English FA do their homework.

They spent 9 mln euro on Yaya Toure.
And you forgot wasteful signings like i.e. Ibrahimovic.
And no. There debt is a bit too big to manage. And its growing.

My prayers has finally been answered, praise God, now these fans of the overhyped league would keep shut for a while, tired of hearing someone scorned another Nigerian for opposing the English clubs as if England is my father's land.

it sucks when i hear these buffoons telling me to support English clubs as if they're the ones feeding me. bullfrog!!!

Leave them chairman, the only thing that English team has is debt, they love debt than anything.
